Head in the Clouds

Halifax. But also anywhere.

Sitting alone at this counter in a great little café in Halifax, this man was engrossed in his work. Sometimes you don't see what is right in front of your eyes.

A blast from the past.

Original text from 2015: Last night after the big screen special showing of all of the "Life's Work : Conversations with Makers" videos,we found ourselves back in the same café with some good friends we don't see often enough. It was great to catch up with them over tea and snacks. We don't see them enough. It was a wonderful turnout at the screening and the Q&A afterwards was fascinating.

Head in the clouds. A man with a bun is sitting on a high stool with his back to us, facing a window. He is in a cafe but appears to be in the clouds from the scene outside the window.

Common Buckeye #butterflies on Gregg’s Mistflower in the front garden. Since it appears that the seasons-change in SE Texas has been cancelled, with daily temps more summer-like than anything approximating autumn, I went ahead and bought some end-of-season-on-sale native perennial butterfly attractor plants and got them in the ground. Success so far, these are the first buckeyes I’ve seen in our garden.

A flood of brown & red trees flanking a weir along a riverside. A shiny new bridge traverses the banks. A splash of blue reflecting in the pool at the bottom of the weir. And you can see the sound the water piling over the weir, a constant white noise
