Today's changes also mean there will be updated health warnings printed on cigarette packets, which will also have inserts with information about how to quit smoking. Jazz composer and pianist #KelleeGreen used her acceptance speech at the #2025QueenslandMusicAwards to speak of the suffering of #Palestinian civilians and to support peaceful protest against Australian government complicity in selling weapons to Israel (in contravention of obligations under international law, including a specific injunction by the #InternationalCourtOfJustice).
The claim by the council is that her speech was 'divisive'.
Treating opposition to genocide as #divisive is (implicitly or explicitly) to normalise being pro-genocide as a legitimate political stance.
Normalising support for genocide is itself a crime under #InternationalLaw.
By only ever punishing anti-genocide speech, and never those who express unqualified support for a genocidal regime (or who even seek to justify its extreme violence through appeal to a 'right to defend itself'), political authorities send the clear message that we ought to be tolerant of those who support exterminative violence and intolerant of those who oppose it.
Never.

Peter Dutton’s plan to move to Sydney instead of Canberra if elected ‘arrogant’, Labor says

Coalition, independents and Greens all agree: There is no gas supply shortage in Australia - The Australia Institute
Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has confirmed what Australia Institute research has long shown – there is no gas supply shortage in Australia.glenn (The Australia Institute)
The Labor gov has repeatedly created immigration targets which itself has allowed to blow past. Temporary visas are demand-driven and without caps there's zero chance immigration would suddenly fall.
"there are also 92,000 people on protection visas yet to be deported, while there are almost 350,000 on bridging visas who will have to leave the country in the next two to three years"
Fat chance. I predict a large % will refuse to leave voluntarily.
"...migration cuts that cause migration levels to whipsaw up and down, instead of settling back to a more stable normal"
erm, no - people from developing countries want to come to Australia no matter what. The top three are China, India and Philippines.
"Without such high levels of migration, Australia’s population growth rate would collapse."
No, it won't the reason why the fertility rate is so low is because cost of living and the housing crisis which is exacerbated by immigration. However, this *is* a trend experienced by all developed nations and the Aus Gov has done shit all to introduce policies to encourage people to start families. Like, why import tons of Muslims and risk destabilising social cohesion as seen in Germany / Sweden / France?

Migration tipped to plummet as post-COVID visas set to expire
A key election issue is high immigration levels, but new research says these will plunge. That’s in addition to falling fertility and shorter lifespans.Shane Wright (The Age)

I can confirm there was an obvious template throughout the weekend on all news reports I heard.
Federal politics leads with a Dutton says story including report and Dutton quote. ALP may, or may not follow ,the story may, or may not be relevant to the election.
In one, the newsreader added Albanese was interrupted by protesters. Protesters interrupting Dutton was never mentioned so I was surprised to find via the fediverse it was happening.
Early days of the election 🙄

"The democratic recession does not begin when a far-right party takes office. It begins when a centrist party crushes hope in democracy. When Keir Starmer’s government takes a chainsaw to people’s aspirations for a fairer, greener, kinder country, he cuts off not just faith in the Labour party but faith in politics itself. The almost inevitable result, as countries from the US to the Netherlands, Argentina to Austria, Italy to Sweden show, is to let the far right in."

It now appears the plans have paid off and they effectively control the White House, attempting to reshape the United States in the image of 1970s South Africa where key players were born and educated.
A similar outpost exists in Australia's state of West Australia, entrenched in its mining industry and seem just as set on shaping the politics of our country.
Like the US cabal, the Australian cabal has targetted conservative political parties and politicians.
These individuals all appear to share family links with and an admiration for Germany's 1930s Nazi party and hold deep fascist, racist and 'eugenic' views.
Dangerous bunch.
