![Hamas, PIJ aim to show world ‘full extent’ of Israel’s war on Gaza
Choosing northern Gaza’s Jabalia refugee camp as one of the sites for the handover of the captives is “hugely symbolically significant”, according to Beverley Milton-Edwards, non-resident senior fellow at the Middle East Council on Global Affairs and co-author of Hamas: The Quest for Power.
She told Al Jazeera that “what we are seeing today is an attempt by Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad brigades to let the world see the full extent of Israel’s war on Gaza”.
“It is hugely symbolically significant that – as we believe – the captives’ release will take place in the northern Gaza Strip that until a few days ago nobody could get into, and specifically in the [Jabalia] refugee camp that was home to tens of thousands of Palestinian refugees that was completely and utterly destroyed by Israel during those assaults on Gaza,” she added.

Zarbiv admitted to destroying homes, targeting civilians, and obliterating entire neighborhoods like #Jabalia & #Rafah.
Rabbi Zarbiv's crimes are well-documented through his own public admissions and video #evidence. On January 22, 2025, Zarbiv appeared in a televised interview where he openly admitted to:
- Destroying 50 buildings per week in Gaza, targeting private homes, schools, hospitals, and aid facilities.
- Participating in the complete destruction of entire neighborhoods, such as Jabalia, Rafah, and other towns.
- Publicly inciting violence and hatred, including endorsing the killing of Palestinian civilians and the obliteration of their communities.
- In the interview, Zarbiv boasted about "playing" on a D9 bulldozer, describing the deliberate demolition of homes and the obliteration of Gaza’s infrastructure. He confirmed the Givati Brigade's systematic targeting of civilian areas and its role in rendering entire towns uninhabitable.
- Additionally, video evidence dated February 7, 2024, shows Zarbiv and his team throwing hand grenades and firing at unarmed Palestinian civilians in Khan Yunis.
These acts constitute clear violations of international humanitarian law.

Al-Qassam Announces ‘Complex Security Operation’ in Jabalia
The al-Qassam Brigades announced the first-ever martyrdom operation targeting Zionist occupation forces during the current and ongoing war on the Gaza Strip, on Friday.
Hamas’ military wing said one of its fighters conducted a “complex security operation,” where the fighter secured a pathway to execute a one-of-a-kind attack on invading troops in the Jabalia refugee camp.
Such attacks have been excluded from the Resistance’s tactics, whereby the majority of confrontations revolved around hit-and-run attacks and improvised explosive device (IED) ambushes. However, seeing that this is the third military campaign launched by occupation forces on Jabalia since the invasion ensued, al-Qassam’s leadership has re-introduced martyrdom operations.
In detail, a fighter eliminated a Zionist sniper team in the camp, consisting of a sniper and a spotter, seizing their equipment and camouflage.
An hour after executing the initial attack, the fighter disguised himself in Zionist military attire before approaching a force, consisting of six troops. He later detonated an explosive belt he was wearing, resulting in casualties among the invading troops.
This operation follows a stabbing operation conducted by the Brigades in the Jabalia refugee camp, where a fighter stabbed and killed an officer and three soldiers, on Thursday.
On Friday, the Brigades also released footage of a one-way attack drone attack on the Magen military site, located to the east of Khan Younis. The attack was conducted via an al-Zawari drone.
Meanwhile, the al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), announced that it fired Badr-1 and 107 mm rocket artillery shells at the Zionist command and control post in the Netzarim Axis.
It also said its fighters downed a surveillance drone over Gaza City.
On its part, the al-Mujahideen Brigades announced that its mortar units shelled occupation forces located in eastern the al-Bureij refugee, in the central Gaza Strip.
The al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade also fired 107 mm rockets at occupation forces in the Netzarim Axis.

Mohammed Maarouf from #Jabalia survived an #Israeli attack but these severe wounds on his face and body will stay forever.
Al Jazeera Arabic is reporting that Dr Saeed Jooda was directly targeted by an Israeli quadcopter while he was on his way to work at al-Awda Hospital in #Jabalia .
Dr Jooda had been injured 2 weeks earlier in a separate incident but continued to go to the hospital to treat patients.
He refused to leave Al Awda hospital throughtout the genocide.
