£65 million is a long, long way off the projected £270/300 million. It should have been built years ago, but Unionist and Loyalist opposition prevented that. As time goes on it gets more and more expensive, particularly as NI now can’t get access to EU funding. Unionists wanted #Brexit got it, and this is part of the price. #GAA #Belfast #CasementPark https://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/sport/gaa/antrim/ulster-gaa-have-full-focus-on-delivering-revamped-casement-park-at-a-significantly-lower-cost/a1192169382.html

Farage prevented from grandstanding at farming protests.

Well who can blame them? Many probably still feel a little sorry for themselves after a large number of farmers bought the lies and enthusiastically supported #Brexit.

Will the farmers call off their protests and pay their taxes like everyone else else, or will they be comfortable standing shoulder to shoulder with the far right - the likes of Nick Griffin, Yaxley-Lennon supporters et al. Remember how many farmers had those big ‘Vote for Brexit’ hoardings on their land? Maybe the farmers really are part of the far right, but they didn’t want us to be fully aware of it?

Another Brexit fiasco.... British cheeses failed to get to the World Cheese Awards in Portugal as they failed to clear customs in time (now being from a non-EU country).

In the scale of the disasters of Brexit its not going to to be a big thing (although it will be for the frustrated cheese makers), but is emblematic of how myopic the Brexiters were about the impact of their successful plan to leave Europe....

Andrew Bailey : Too little. Too late. Too confused. Too equivocal.

Appointed by Johnson as a reliable yes man in place of the courageous & forthright Mark Carney.

It is not Bailey's job to make this spineless political genuflection in the direction of Leave Voters.

The Referendum was 8 years ago. His job is to present the #Brexit accounts unvarnished to the nation.

As a second Trump term looks more likely, the Brexiters hope/aim to (re)align the UK with the Atlanticist economy instead of looking across the channel to Europe appears ever more like a major mistake in national economic strategy.

If Trump wins (as now looks likely) & imposes the tariffs he 'promises' then the NIESR suggest the UK's already meagre growth rates will be halved, presenting a further economic headache for Govt. & country!

I see Jeremy Hunt has called the rise in employers' National Insurance contributions 'the biggest assault on our economic competitiveness since the 1970s'.... err, no Jeremy, that would have been Brexit!

It seems that the Home Office have learnt bugger all from previous feck ups.

Costa Koushiappis, 39, who is Greek Cypriot, has been told to show up at Edinburgh airport at 7am on Friday to be forcibly put on a flight to Amsterdam just weeks after he received an email from the Home Office to say it could take a further 24 months to process his application for status.
