In this Kafka-esque world, apparently Eric Pickles originally, then the last #Tory gov and now the new #Labour gov are appropriate to determine that someone else is corrupt, that they have created a toxic environment, and that they jerry mandered elections.

I mean - I'm sure Lutfur's a dodgy geezer.

But.

Pot. Kettle.

"The satisfaction of Tetler’s book does not then rest on its reconstruction of the importance of ‘not-capital’ to Marx’s mature theory (although that is certainly still there). Instead, it rests upon an ingenious structure in which, through the lens of ‘not-capital’, Tetler addresses the ‘blind spots’ within one theorist’s position by drawing upon the position of the theorist who follows (138). What results is not quite a value theory battle royale, so much as an intricate dialectical progression, which takes us from Roman Rosdolsky, Mario Tronti and Toni Negri (chapter two), to Chris Arthur (chapter three), Moishe Postone, Wertkritik and John Holloway (chapter four), before eventually arriving at a ‘critique of capitalist society’, which comprises a Postonian ‘critique of labour’, an ‘open Marxist’ conception of ‘capital as class struggle’, and a Neue Marx-Lektüre inspired ‘monetary theory of value’ (chapter five). What makes Tetler’s arrival at this composite position satisfying, however, isn’t simply that our route is so skilfully crafted. Rather, it’s that – in a Marxist field oversaturated with hackneyed labels, slogans and -isms, in which movements and schools might be readily dismissed or adopted with little care, attention, or, most frustratingly, justification – the dexterity and deliberation that Marx’s Not-Capital demonstrates is so unusual."

“The general election result showed that Scottish Labour can deliver change for Scotland and I’d like to again place on record my thanks and gratitude to John-Paul McHugh for the work he carried out as general secretary to deliver that.

Change yes. For the better NO

“In the face of a desperate housing crisis, the existence of right to buy means we are in effect trying to refill a bath without being allowed to put the plug back in.”

“Keir Starmer’s sycophantic words of congratulation to Donald Trump are among the most dispiriting things I have read this morning. “Shoulder to shoulder in defence of our shared values of freedom, democracy and enterprise”? This is either serious delusion or utter hypocrisy. He should be ashamed”

"Much like when George Osborne aimed to cut the #disability benefits bill by a fifth, “#welfare reform” based on arbitrary cost-cutting says the quiet part out loud: #benefits won’t be awarded based on who needs them – just on what they cost."

“This #Labour government is squandering the opportunity to effect transformative change. It's refused to lift the two-child benefit cap; scrapped universal pensioners’ winter fuel payment; is failing to take action to avert climate catastrophe; supports privatisation of our #NHS; thinks it acceptable to accept gifts from wealthy donors."

Beth Winter, ex Labour MP also "blasted Labour for continuing to arm Israel in the face of the ongoing onslaught against #Palestine."

In #GeneralElectionUK 2024:

3 in 5 electors voted;
1 in 5 electors voted #Labour;
1 in 20 voted Labour because they liked the Labour offering;
1 in 200 voted Labour because they liked Keir #Starmer's leadership.
