Wow!! Only a day in the fediverse and everyone is already so nice and have such interesting things to share! I’ve also explored loops and am waiting to enter pixelfed. :) No art for today but here is instead a picture of my cat. Her name is Bahia!

Based on a suggestion from @3mph, last night I didn't eat or drink anything after 6pm, then went to bed at my normal time of 9pm.

I logged 9.5 hours in bed, 8 of which were actually sleeping. The other 90 minutes was logged as "awake" - I definitely felt it too.

The other thing I'm thinking about: what does "tired" feel like? I've always associated it with a feeling in my eyes. But like other feelings, I have trouble differentiating subtle differences.

When I woke up at 6:30, I felt the tiredness in my eyes, but my brain was active and alert. I got up, drank some water, washed my face, then the tired feeling was gone and I felt more overall awake and alert.

So... am I misreading that feeling in my eyes? Is it just dry eyes maybe? 🤷‍♂️

Yaaay alexithymia.

I went for a brisk 20 minute walk this morning, with two 90 second jogging intervals. That felt good!

There's a whole tangled mess of stuff to unpack and think about here. Slowly working on it...

Far and away the biggest improvement for me came from some phone related stuff:
- keeping phone as much as possible out of bedroom
- actually switching it off every night (get a separate, non-smart alarm clock)

I #sleep with a lukewarm hot water bottle, even after winter's over. It's vaguely like a baby. It helps me fall asleep.

And it helps me wake up. The next morning, when I become dimly aware of this cold, motionless lump next to me, it provides the first adrenaline rush of the day.
