Just made some Silent Sunday blog posts. The nice thing about getting some nice snaps at the zoo is... That they make awesome snaps to share for silent Sunday.

I have some posts lined up for the next few days... Need to finish my journal post today, as it needs to go live at 7 (CET). So when we get home, that will be the first thing I'll do (don't wanna forget it again! 🫣). And then... I'll see if I can walk the treadmill some... 😊

But first... The blog! I'm also still working on my February fitness post, which should go live early March.

Trying to keep my mind happy bu writing all the things it comes up with. Sometimes it repeats bits, guess that's the downside of overthinking I guess...

J'ai mon Mastodon qui est rempli de pouets militants ou politisés ou pro "quelque chose". Rien de mal en soi, mais ça me fatigue qu'à chaque fois que j'ouvre Mastodon, j'ai l'impression de rejoindre une grande manif virtuelle de gens pas contents.

Moi à la base je voulais surtout découvrir des #photographe qui aiment parler de leur métier ou des coulisses de leurs photos, des webmasters qui crisent sur #WordPress, des #freelance qui racontent leur dernière bourde pour un client, des illustrateurs qui expliquent comment ils arrivent à tel ou tel résultat visuel...

I used the "gallery" option in Wordpress (Classic Editor) a lot.

But what it looks like in the pseudo-HTML source that Wordpress uses is this:

Which conversion/archiving tools don't know what to do with.

I assume Wordpress must generate the gallery HTML everytime the page is loaded? (I'm pretty sure the numbers are document numbers for the images, which also contain size and captions).

I've been manually converting them to HTML tables, which will work in exported Markdown (albeit just as quoted HTML -- because apparently Markdown doesn't support image tables or galleries).

Also, I have to open each image and then copy and paste the filename into the "Add Media" search bar in order to add the images to my article so I can put table tags around them.

Is there a better way to do this?

Maybe a way to explode the galleries into individual images, at least?

Also, do any of the static CMS/blog generators handle images and galleries better than this?

All the ones I know seem to view images as an afterthought, and galleries, let alone artistic layouts not even a tiny bit. Not everything of value is words, folks.

I'm thinking of migrating to something else -- but what?

Ich nutzt das "The Newsletter Plugin" auf drei verschiedenen Seiten. Das kann alles, was ich brauche. Das Meiste sogar in der kostenlosen Version - nur das Bounce-Management ist mir auf einer Seite die Lizenz wert.

Ich glaube, wenn Du ohnehin "nur" Deine Blogposts versendest, kannst Du das sogar komplett automatisieren.

Auf einer Seite habe ich ~450 Abonnenten. Auf einer ~80. Die dritte ist gerade erst eingerichtet.

Sagt mal, wie macht ihr das bei #WordPress?

Ich habe einige Leute, die ausschließlich per Email folgen. Die sind nirgendwo auf Social Media, die kennen kein RSS, nichts. Ja, sowas gibt's.

Die folgen mir derzeit über meinen monatlichen #Newsletter. Allerdings - und das ist der springende Punkt - läuft der über #MailChimp. Das gehört zu dem US-Unternehmen Intuit. Ich will was anderes machen.

Da Email bei mir funktioniert (automatisierte Mails vom Backup und vom Health Checker als Beispiel), habe ich mir gedacht, ich mache da was lokal im Blog. Kennt ihr da gute Lösungen?

Es geht bei mir um keine 100 Empfänger, also brauche ich keine Business-Lösung für drölfzig Euronen im Monat. Einfach eine einfache Benachrichtigung per Email, möglichst mit etwas Text darum. Kennt ihr sowas, was dann eben auch funktioniert? Ich will nicht erst noch monatelang schrauben.

Moreover, admins should review other privileged accounts and the list of installed plugins, to identify unauthorized activity and remove them as soon as possible. Finally, it is recommended that CSRF protections on WordPress sites be strengthened via unique token generation, server-side validation and periodic regeneration. Tokens should have a short expiration time to limit their validity period. Implementing multi-factor authentication also adds protection to accounts with credentials that have already been compromised.

Wie meinte mal jemand? Der RSS-Feed ist nahe an der Steinzeit und überhaupt, der ist nicht mehr zeitgemäß mit den sozialen Netzwerken und so. Nein, so direkt hat das niemand gesagt. Ich kann mich auch nicht mehr an den direkten Wortlaut erinnern, und der ist in dem Zusammenhang auch völlig nebensächlich. Jedenfalls merke ich bei mir, dass RSS nach wie vor seine Fans hat, bei mir ca. 14% aller Zugriffe. Und auch andere Webseiten setzen vermehrt darauf. Grund, die Feeds neu zu organisieren.

Has anyone come up with a good #Wordpress solution for putting #Fediverse sharing links on articles, yet?

Right now, my Wordpress still shows these "share to" link icons -- but in addition to being dated, it's not obvious to me how to make this work for Fedi platforms, since platform, instance, and user all need to be given (maybe some kind of Cookie could remember the user's preferences?)
Sharing icons for my Wordpress articles make it easy to share on: X, formerly Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Linked-In No Fedi options here. Nor Bluesky or Threads for that matter.

Der Neue auf Friendica
Tag auch, ich bin's, der Neue. Und wie man das halt so macht, schreibe ich mal ein #neuhier in den Artikel.

Ich treibe mich seit einigen Tagen hier auf Friendica rum, nachdem ich mich einige Zeit nach der Twitter-Übernahme von Elon Musk bereits mit Mastodon rumgeschlagen habe. So geht es sicherlich vielen im Fediverse.

Irgendwie ist mir rund um den 09.01. oder 10.01.2025 eingefallen, ich müsse doch mehr im Fediverse machen. Ich habe seit 2009 einen kleinen Blog, der zwar mit #ActivityPub ausgestattet ist, aber ich mich dennoch frage: Und jetzt?

Also versuche ich seitdem, mich irgendwie hier auf Friendica zurecht zu finden. Ich komme zwar grundsätzlich klar. Aber manches klappt dann halt doch nicht so, wie ich mir das vorstelle. Und nein, ich möchte nicht schon wieder darüber diskutieren.

Was ich hier will? Nun, mich austauschen. Meinem Verständnis nach spielt mein #Blog dabei die Rolle der Homebase. Ich würde mich gern über alles mögliche austauschen. Vielleicht macht ja jemand #Musik mit #Ableton oder weiß auch nicht so recht, wie lang der eigene Blog noch mit #WordPress laufen soll. Aber ich halte auch viel vom #Dummquatschen.

Ich hätte es gern, dass jeder Mensch seine Chance bekommt. So wurde ich sozialisiert. Ausgrenzung, Hass und Hetze wird es mit mir nicht geben. Ansonsten kann man mit mir schon gern mal Bier trinken oder so.

So, und jetzt schaue ich mal weiter, wie der Laden hier so läuft. Ach ja, und der Post wurde eindeutig inspiriert von @Franky :friendica:
