When on the internet, all I want to do is read text, see images, and watch videos. That tech existed 20 years ago. All commercial #webdevelopment since then has intentionally had the goal of making that harder. It has accomplished little else other than providing the ability to order things.

#Capitalism did not create the internet (c.f. ARPANET) and it is seemingly incapable of improving it. I'm not sure how it got to be in charge.

I really can’t overstate how important it is to be conversational on this platform. The passive consumption of content is such a raw cheat of APub.

Comment on everything. Invite others to conversation. Create dialogue, discuss differences. With strangers, with creators, with news article bots - it doesn’t matter. A reply is better than a repost any day

Folks should take a look at the #fullTextsearch function that Eugen is proposing for #Mastodon and how closely it resembles the #search patch of the woman who he kicked off the Mastodon repo GitHub & Discord a couple of months ago. People of the #fediverse, especially those creating various services, there are alternatives to HCAPTCHA when you ask people to create accounts or login. Despite HCAPTCHA's propaganda, HCAPTCHA is not truly accessible to #blind people. It requires us to give up our privacy if we choose the cookie option. The text alternative doesn't work most times. I just tried to sign up for a /kbin server at https://redit.buzz and wasted 30 mins on HCAPTCHA.

I have spent the last two days working on making good quality SVG versions of the logo/symbols for #fediverse projects and I feel like it was worth it. I think the hard/less fun part of this project is getting them out there for all to use. I am pretty unfamiliar with submitting to Wikimedia Commons that is probably the best place for them to all live
