#FootpathFriday comes from the Pembrokeshire Coast Path today. Only a short stroll around Cemaes Head due to reasons, but it’s a beautiful day for it.

Photo of an open gateway on a coastal footpath, a wooden style adjacent on the left. Beyond it is a view of a bay with a grass covered coastline on the opposite side scattered with white houses. A small island sits off the coast to the left. To the right, waves break on a wide sandy beach at the mouth of a river. The sky is an almost cloudless blue, a haze on the horizon inland.

Winter continues to provide such great beauty! I went on a sunset hike yesterday on my favorite local trail. Each frozen lake I passed displayed a different phase of this colorful sunset. Finished the hike well into twilight with a smile on my face! #sunset #FootPathFriday #hiking

Photo of sunset as viewed from across a frozen lake. Snowy shoreline in immediate foreground. Smooth ice on lake reflecting orange, yellow, and red colors of sunset above trees. Blue sky overhead.

A storm themed #FootpathFriday and #FingerpostFriday.

Hope everyone is ok out there. It’s certainly pretty wild.
A photo of a footpath leading through a wooden field gate into woodland. A wooden fingerpost minus its sign arm stands on the right, leaning slightly that way. The gate is also looking a bit wonky (could also be the angle of the shot). A large tree in the hedge bank has toppled (again to the right) and its root plate has lifted, taking the gate post with it and jamming the gate closed. Beyond, in the woods, more trees have come down right across the path. The sky shows grey through a web of branches in the tree canopy.

A walk along Ceredigion coast path blew some cobwebs away today. A lovely remote and rugged section from Cwmtydu to Llangrannog then back inland along quiet lanes and wooded paths, 10 miles in all. Mostly cloudy but the snow topped peaks of Eryri and the Llŷn peninsula were gleaming in sunshine.

Photo of a view from a cliff top path, down to a rocky cove with a shingle beach, and along the coast of Cardigan Bay with the Llŷn peninsula a line on the horizon. The sea and sky are similar shades of dark grey-blue but there’s a strip of pale blue in between, clearer sky above the peninsula. Mountain tops gleam white with snow.
Photo of a view along the coast path in the opposite direction. A green ribbon of path snakes along the steep coastal slope, brown with bracken. A thin, finger-like headland juts out into the flat, grey-blue sea. There is an interesting pattern of clouds, almost mackerel-like, with glimpses of blue peeking through.
Photo of a view back along the coast path. The coast here is rugged. Gently sloped grass fields give way to sheer, dark cliffs, with inaccessible coves and jagged rocks at the base. Again, a thin strip of blue sky over the mountains on the horizon, sandwiched between grey-blue sea and sky.
A photo of a fork in a path through woodland. A mossy bank marks the divide. The surface of the paths are littered in red-brown leaves. The only trees holding their glossy green leaves are the hollies.

Not taken today, as it’s grey, drizzly, and altogether crappy, plus I am still in the grip of The Lurgy.

Colour photograph of a broad grassy quad bike track curving up the side of a hill and away around a bend. The hillside is covered in winter bracken, which is glowing a bright orange red in low winter sun. The sky is a clear pale blue, with a small bank of pinky grey cloud. There are a few sheep grazing the hillside.

From Monday’s walk in the Cambrians, a boardwalk footpath through wet woodland in the Tywi (Towy) valley.

Landscape photo of a wooden boardwalk footpath through wet woodland. A handrail runs along the right side.
The trees are a mix of deciduous but the woodland here is predominantly alder. Some green leaves still cling to branches. Brown fallen leaves litter the boardwalk and lush green woodland floor.
The rise of a hillside beyond shows through the tree trunks, golden brown in the afternoon sunlight. The sky is bright blue.
