When @DickHardt, founder and CEO of hello.coop, joined the fediverse, he couldn’t find the news he cared about. So he launched press.coop, and created accounts mirroring the X or RSS feeds of sites he or others from the community wanted to follow. Some accounts got thousands of followers. When our publishers joined the fediverse, Dick and team decided that these publisher-owned accounts might be a more direct way for people to connect with the publisher and their content. So over the next week nearly 100 press.coop accounts will be migrated to official publisher Flipboard.com accounts. If you’re already following a press.coop account, you’ll automatically follow the new one, and there’s no need to do anything. Here’s a blogpost explaining more, plus a full list: https://about.flipboard.com/fediverse/flipboard-takes-over-press-coop-accounts/

The truth about #copyright: even successful authors can’t live on the #royalties #publishers pay them - https://walledculture.org/the-truth-about-copyright-even-successful-authors-cant-live-on-the-royalties-publishers-pay-them/ it's tragic that most people still believe in this fairy tale put about by the copyright world

#ChatGPT shall soon make possible custom-ordered novels. These books shall replace trope-laden and predictable #novels written by humans, leaving behind a much smaller, though viable, market for truly original works. Traditional #publishers, whose catalogues have been thus decimated, shall find themselves in the embarrassing position of rummaging through their archives of rejection letters. 😈
