It was only four years ago when #Republicans were in this situation having just lost a presidential election by a 5-point margin and I don't recall seeing a single story framed like this one.

The GOP, having just lost their 7th popular vote in the previous 8 presidential elections, was never described as "deep in the wilderness."

I'd also note that the Dems were able to pass bills without GOP votes. The #GOP hasn't been able to do that. So Dems objectively have more power.
