Been working on my blog a bit. 😊

Next focus should be to create some new Thursday Quote posts and Silent Sunday posts. Those seem like short and easy ones, but the usually take up some time. I try to create the quote images, with help from Bing AI, Pixlr and AddText. The Sunday ones, I need to find a good image and make sure I add the Alt text to it as well. 😊

The quote ones I usually make on my phone, as it has all the apps I need to make them. The silent Sunday ones are usually a mix of phone and laptop. 😊

Hopefully, I'll be able to visit the zoo some more again, as animals make quite nice subjects for the Silent Sunday posts... Or, at least I like to think so...

Currently riding the hometrainer some. But my leg isn't all in it, which is annoying. 😔 So I'll probably head down soon, work on my blog a bit and then have some food... Walk with Arwen, and seeing the vacation of bestie is over, she'll probably call me again on her way to her job...

Hopefully I can get some cleaning done after that, before I have to leave the house again.

I'll head to Lidl around 7:45, as it should open at 8, and I wanna be early. Hopefully they'll have all I need and I'll be done quick and all that.

Könnt ihr euch vorstellen, dass das Bloggen mit dem Handy jetzt nicht so was endgeiles ist? Ich habe mich gestern mal wieder daran versucht. Ich wollte euch von einer technischen Störung erzählen. Und das habe ich am Abend gemacht. Da ich da nicht mehr den Computer an hatte und den auch nicht nochmal anschalten wollte, habe ich das Ganze auf der Couch mit dem Handy schnell zusammen geklöppelt. Aber ganz ehrlich: Schön ist anders. Und das muss ich mal eben hier erzählen. Wo denn auch sonst?

Wo zum Geier kommt denn der 503-Fehler auf einmal in #WordPress her? Nicht permanent und offenbar nicht, wenn ich nicht angemeldet bin. Vielleicht auch nicht, wenn statt Firefox der Chrome im Einsatz ist. Komisches Fehlerbild und noch viel seltsamer die Lösungshinweise, die ich fand.

I'm trying to dust off my ancient #wordpress #blog, and I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that wordpress and the wordpress community don't care about blogs anymore.

All the themes look like ecommerce sites. I don't want that.

It's bad enough the editor is now the visual editor that is *really* pushing a bunch of post types that never made any sense to me, let alone "boxes" or whatever the editor calls them seem to do their damnedest to not let anyone see any html ever.

Want to paste in an embed? Why would you do that? Pick one of these 15 embed buttons. Bruh? Like wha?

it doesn't help that it appears that widgets are constantly breaking the themes now. Breaking them hard enough that the site crashes.

FML.

Maybe I should just delete the whole thing and reinstall.

J'ai mon Mastodon qui est rempli de pouets militants ou politisés ou pro "quelque chose". Rien de mal en soi, mais ça me fatigue qu'à chaque fois que j'ouvre Mastodon, j'ai l'impression de rejoindre une grande manif virtuelle de gens pas contents.

Moi à la base je voulais surtout découvrir des #photographe qui aiment parler de leur métier ou des coulisses de leurs photos, des webmasters qui crisent sur #WordPress, des #freelance qui racontent leur dernière bourde pour un client, des illustrateurs qui expliquent comment ils arrivent à tel ou tel résultat visuel...

I used the "gallery" option in Wordpress (Classic Editor) a lot.

But what it looks like in the pseudo-HTML source that Wordpress uses is this:

Which conversion/archiving tools don't know what to do with.

I assume Wordpress must generate the gallery HTML everytime the page is loaded? (I'm pretty sure the numbers are document numbers for the images, which also contain size and captions).

I've been manually converting them to HTML tables, which will work in exported Markdown (albeit just as quoted HTML -- because apparently Markdown doesn't support image tables or galleries).

Also, I have to open each image and then copy and paste the filename into the "Add Media" search bar in order to add the images to my article so I can put table tags around them.

Is there a better way to do this?

Maybe a way to explode the galleries into individual images, at least?

Also, do any of the static CMS/blog generators handle images and galleries better than this?

All the ones I know seem to view images as an afterthought, and galleries, let alone artistic layouts not even a tiny bit. Not everything of value is words, folks.

I'm thinking of migrating to something else -- but what?

Pro tip: If you'd like to sell your plugin to bigger orgs, please do not add excessive branding in wp-admin. No upsells, banners, "rate us on wp.org" and other bullshit.

Our editors shouldn't even need to know your plugin's name. They should simply have new options that blend in and work reliably.

Tatsächlich ist die Überschrift ungenau. Denn ich bin lange nicht mehr „neu“ im Fediverse. Sechs bis sieben Jahre treibe ich mich schon darin herum. Habe eine Hubzilla- und eine Streams-Instanz betrieben (nur für mich allein), war auf Mastodonten.de, bis dass der Admin (mein Freund) dort den Stecker gezogen hat, und heute habe ich (auch) ein Konto auf Mastodon.social dem Dickschiff unter den Servern im Fediverse… (615 Wörter, 3 Minuten Lesezeit.)
