Right now, there are many different theories about why the #Democrats lost the #election. A lot of these theories conflict, and they can't all be right. But one thing all Democrats should be able to agree on is that they need a massive #Media Machine to compete with the #Republicans.

I see all these op-eds pontificating on what the Democrats did wrong & #Trump did right this #election. They are all the same old talking points as before because no one is willing to admit the truth: the Harris campaign assumed that most Americans are good and decent people, while Trump knew that you can override our better angels through fear and division.

It’s not that complicated, but something that the talking heads don’t seem to want to admit.

A second, vengeful Trump presidency will be worse than the first. We must organize to defend Trump's targets, such as immigrants and trans people. Anti-fascists should get involved in mass protest movements opposing Trump's attacks, not to lead or steer these movements, but to play our part and share our perspectives. Trump has already indicated that he will try to crush such movements--the deeper our movements extend into workplaces, neighborhoods, and communities, the more difficult Trump's task will be.

Fascist groups will not vanish during the Trump presidency. Trump's policies such as threatened mass deportations will encourage these groups, though at other times fascists will view Trump as insufficient. Anti-fascist organizing must complement broader challenges to the authoritarian Trump government and to the global rise of the far right.

The effects of a Trump win are international, encouraging leaders such as Putin and Netanyahu, as well as right-wing populist movements worldwide. It will also, due to Trump's climate denialism and pro-drilling platform, accelerate the growing climate catastrophe. In response, our movements should expand international communication, coordination, and solidarity. It's time to fight like hell.

Anyone else having issues tuning back into news/news comedy after election day?

Tried NPR, nope. John Stewart's "we've been here before" landed flat. Even tried to watch Seth Meyers' take, and I couldn't make it in 2 minutes, as soon as he started playing Cheetoh clips.

I don't feel like the past approaches work. I can't go back to "this is normal, it's funny, it's just politics as usual" after this. Feels like the calm before meteor impact.

Further proof it is the racism here in Wisconsin.

Looks like Tammy Baldwin is going to retain her Senate seat by some 25,000 votes. Trump carried the state.

Which says to me that 25K people here in WI are perfectly fine voting for a white, openly bisexual woman, but not a Black woman. You cannot tell me there is any difference in competence or policy positions between Harris and Baldwin. It sure looks like racism to me.

This whole election looks to me like "Urban Renewal" in the 1960s.

After working in factories for 2 decades starting in WWII Black people starting buying houses. White people left in droves. After the while folks left, they made sure to "get rid of the eyesores" (Black people's neighborhoods) that remained in the cities. They would talk about "economic development" and "revitalization" but underneath it was just pure, ugly racism.

That's what drove this election. Not money, not campaign ad spending, not the economy. Just pure racism (by which I include all other "divisions," immigrants, Muslims, LGTBQ+, sexism, etc.)
