abridged FB post by Dustin West Mar 27 - 6:28 PM I was just detained & my dog was assaulted by plainclothed ICE agents, along with undercover members of the NYPD, while trying to intervene in an abduction on my block. They refused to id themselves, were masked, produced no warrant, & had an unmarked van. They snatched a family walking their kids home from school off the street & then kicked my dog & cuffed me & my neighbors for asking questions. They illegally went through my phone, violated multiple Constitutional rights & then sped off with a family & screaming kids in the back of a van to God knows where. If this can happen on a corner in Harlem at 5:30 in the pm, we are in big trouble guys. Protect yourselves & your neighbors any way you know how. I am heartbroken, enraged & disgusted at what my country has become & if you don’t feel the same, you aren’t paying attention or you are part of the problem. Black & brown people in this country have been subjected to this type of violence & lawlessness for centuries. The fact the oppressors in power are now willing to also inflict it against a white man of privilege in broad daylight, in the supposed bastion of progressive values that is NYC, only shows how brazen they have become & how dangerous it is for everyone not as privileged as me. White people MUST stand in the way of fascism at every turn. We MUST put our bodies & our privilege on the line. We MUST be wrenches in the gears of this horrible machine we helped create.

"A Yale professor who studies fascism is leaving the US to work at a Canadian university because of the current US political climate, which he worries is putting the US at risk of becoming a “fascist dictatorship”.

Jason Stanley, who wrote the 2018 book How Fascism Works: The Politics of Us and Them, has accepted a position at the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy.

Stanley told the Daily Nous, a philosophy profession website, that he made the decision “to raise my kids in a country that is not tilting towards a fascist dictatorship”.

He said in an interview that Columbia University’s recent actions moved him to accept the offer. Last Friday, Columbia gave in to the Trump administration by agreeing to a series of demands in order to restore $400m in federal funding. These changes include crackdowns on protests, increased security power and “internal reviews” of some academic programs, like the Middle Eastern studies department."

This Saturday, March 29th, is Tesla Takedown Day, a day of peaceful protest at every US Tesla dealership and as many other dealerships and facilities outside the US as possible.

Here’s a map of planned protests you can join – places, times of day, and so on. They aren’t all at the same time, which might be useful for you. Find one close to you that’s at a time you can make and be there, preferably with a sign. „The Tech-Right is united, but less by their scattered reactionary ideologies, and more by their shared class interests. They want us divided, thinking we’ll fight each other over the scraps they offer us, or by generating the latest outrage on social media platforms they control.

We need to organize and build around our shared class interests, reaching across divisions, around common goals and struggles. We want homes for everyone. We want a livable planet for our children. We want control over our labor. We want to abolish the systems that are destroying us.

In the 1990s, anarchists, labor unions, anti-sweatshop activists, and environmental groups helped mobilize thousands in militant protests against corporate globalization, all under a Democratic president. Using decentralized networks, independent media, and affinity groups, they helped to create a growing movement, rooted in anti-capitalist analysis and direct action.
