Ich bin so ein Tab-Messi, mache ständig neue Tabs auf. Die legt der Browser dann immer brav ganz rechts ab.
Irgendwann sind es dann so viele Tabs, daß sie nicht mehr alle in die Tableiste passen und ich bekomme rechts und links Pfeile zum Scrollen.
Das ist suboptimal, lieber wäre mir eine zweite Tab-Leiste unter der ersten.
Geht das irgendwie?

Chromium mag zwar Open Source sein. Das Repo dazu kontrolliert jedoch Google wodurch eine Monopolstellung der Chromiumderrivate nicht wünschenswert ist. Das ist zumindest das Argument einen Firefox-basierten Browser zu nutzen der nicht auf Chromium basiert. #Firefox #Chromium

🤔 Eine Empfehlung wäre nicht schlecht gewesen.

Testweise #brave auf dem PC installiert, und muß gestehen, der ist einfach schneller. Werde den weiterhin testen.

Attention, blind Akkoma users! I will be writing to the developer with my concerns about a few problems with accessibility on this platform. Most should be easy to resolve. Please let me know if you find any more, and also state what browser and screen reader you are using. Note: This is in reference to the site itself, not to your client of choice. I will post about that separately. For the record, I use NVDA with Firefox.

• Many buttons are unlabelled and simply say "button". This is true on the main page as well as when viewing posts and tabs in profiles. Most work once pressed. They just need to be labelled.
  
• Searching for people, tags, groups, and posts is inaccessible. I can enter the edit field and write my text, but then, there are two unlabelled buttons next to that. The first simply takes me back to the edit field. The second does nothing. I am assuming this is a submit button that doesn't work via the keyboard.
  
• It is impossible to view followers, as well as those whom I follow. I can see the numbers of each but not the people and groups themselves.
  
• I cannot read my own profile without editing it. There appears to be no link where I can simply view it, either as myself or anonymously. If I go to my page and am not logged in, however, I can view it. I can also easily edit it when logged in.
  
• The page renders very differently in Chrome than in Firefox. In Chrome, I can't see anything but my notifications, so I can't get to my page or the other timelines.

In unregelmäßigen Abständen gibt @mozillaofficial Anlass zur Frage, ob es inzwischen eher zur dunklen Seite der Macht zu rechnen sei.

Natürlich ist Google keine akzeptable Alternative (obwohl mir auffällt, dass viele Halbinformierte z.Z. von Firefox zu irgend einem chromiumbasierten Browser wechseln): Google hat eh schon zuviel Macht, was sich zuletzt darin zeigte, dass der beste Werbe- und Trackingblocker uBlock Origin nicht mehr ohne Klimmzüge mit mit Chrome benutzt werden kann.

Wenn es eine gute Alternative zu Firefox gäbe, würden noch viel mehr Leute wechseln. Aber Firefox-Forks wie #Librewolf, #Ironfox und #Zenbrowser sind nur eine Übergangslösung. Und WebKit-Browser lassen sich nicht mit AddOns wie uBlock Origin anpassen.

Wo bleiben die alternativen Rendering-Engines? Da gibt zum einen Ladybird. Das sah lange nach einem Ein-Mann-Projekt aus, aber inzwischen ist es eine Organisation. Ob es da mittlerweile mehrere Entwickler:innen gibt, wäre zu prüfen. (Update: Laut FAQ arbeiten 7 Vollzeitentwickler:innen an Ladybird, aber eine Alphaversion wird erst im Sommer 2026 erwartet.)

Außerdem wird weiterhin an der bei Mozilla entstandenen Next-Generation-Engine @servo gearbeitet, obwohl Mozilla das Rust-Team gefeuert hat, dem diese Engine zu verdanken ist. Die beiden auf Servo basierenden Browser Servoshell und Verso sind leider noch nicht alltagstauglich. Ich habe sie heute ausprobiert, damit ihr es nicht tun müsst.

Ich stimme @larsmb zu, der schreibt, dass Servo und Verso das Zeug hätten, den Browser zu bauen, den die User sich wünschen – einer, der in ihrem Interesse arbeitet. Dafür sollte es Fördermittel geben – auch öffentliche, steuerfinanzierte. Bis dahin müssen wir mit den Übergangslösungen leben.

I have been delaying my financial donation to #Thunderbird until I am able to confirm that NONE of it will go towards #Mozilla .

I've been using #Firefox for years and donating for years.

But with the recent 'spyware' TOS changes, Firefox is now dead to me.

So, can you confirm that when I click the 'Donate' button on the default Thunderbird start page, NONE of my donated cash will go to Mozilla?

(If so, perhaps the 'start page' of Thunderbird could be updated to make that fact clear. I suspect that there may be many others like me who've assumed FF and T'bird are funded by 'consolidated' revenue streams.)

Genau dieses... Auch mit dem ganzen Aufruhr um #Firefox die letzte Zeit. Ich glaube, dass die einfach nur wirklich, wirklich, WIRKLICH grottenschlecht mit der Formulierung umgegangen sind bzw. bestimmte für Kalifornien übliche Klauseln einbringen wollten.

Sag mal... was anderes: warum wird Vivaldi als einziger Europäischer Browser neben Mullvad kaum erwähnt?? Auch dort sagt man, sich Datenschutz und Privatsphäre auf die Fahnen zu schreiben und #nobigtech zu vertreten.

Mozilla hat die FAQs von Firefox geändert: Statt „Daten werden nicht an Werbetreibende verkauft“ steht nun, dass persönliche Daten geschützt sind. Auch der Hinweis auf „kostenlos“ wurde geändert. Mozilla betont, keine Daten zu verkaufen, die Änderungen seien rechtlich nötig. Die Praxis bleibt jedoch gleich – persönlich halte ich die Aufregung für übertrieben. Als Alternative zu Firefox sei LibreWolf erwähnt. 👇

Apparently Firefox shares unique identifiers for quite a lot of reasons which mostly fail to convince me of their need. There might be legitimate reason, but once again raises more questions than answers. E.g look at the "relevant content and advertising on Firefox New Tab" part. 😩
