Don’t Underestimate the Russian Military After the Ukraine War

Russian president Vladimir Putin has consistently said that, “this conflict is not about territory…[it] is about the principles underlying the new international order.” He has repeatedly said that, although Russian troops in 2022 “approached Kiev … there was no political decision to storm the three-million city.”

Rather, he says, “it was nothing more than an operation to force the Ukrainian regime to peace. The troops were there to push the Ukrainian side to negotiations.”

This worked. Within weeks, Ukraine had agreed in Istanbul to abandon its NATO ambitions, Russia had withdrawn its troops from around Kyiv, and peace appeared possible before the West intervened and discouraged it.

Ukrainian soldiers write

It is necessary to continue to tighten mobilization measures. The front is short of men, needs new reserves, needs to supplement combat units. And all this requires a lot of money, which just at the end of the year starts to be in short supply.

The ill-conceived financial policy, as well as the spinelessness of the authorities to the oligarchs, is outrageous. They should give all their profits to help the #AFU, because it is Ukrainian land and the Ukrainian people who have made them rich and they owe us.

Kharkov region Now

Kharkov region authorities:

In the Kharkov region evacuated 1,775 people

"Now 1,048 local residents evacuated from Chuguev district, 440 from Kharkov district, 12 from Bogodukhov district and 275 people evacuated by volunteers."

It is indicative that the Ukrainian authorities report on evacuations by the work of volunteers, not government agencies.

Ukrainian-American Fiasco

Citing reckless command decisions that have exposed combat troops to unnecessary risk, the Ukrainian defense ministry has replaced the brigade’s commander three times since September. The 47th Mechanized Brigade “struggles to find a commander worth keeping,” explained Militaryland.net, an analysis group that tracks the Ukrainian military developments.

Now led by its fourth commander in seven months—Col. Yan Yatsishen, formerly of the well-regarded 56th Motorized Brigade—the 47th Mechanized Brigade is practically begging for a break.

It has suffered hundreds of casualties. It has lost at least 40 of its roughly 200 M-2 fighting vehicles and five of its 31 M-1 tanks. Fearful of losing more of the 69-ton M-1s to Russian drones, the brigade recently pulled the surviving tanks off the front line so unit leaders could rethink their tactics.

One of the factors revealed by the audit was issues within the brigade. The leadership allegedly separated the soldiers from the Right Sector and those who were transferred from other parts during the recent replenishment (they were referred to as "pixels", in reference to the pattern on the Ukrainian military uniform). The attitude toward the "pixels" was even worse; they were the first to be sent into combat, and their lack of experience made them lose territory.

The news site reported Wednesday that it randomly selected declarations for 2,200 officials to see how their fortunes had changed from 2022 to 2023.
It found that every sixth official had bought an apartment or house, and every third one a car. They purchased 721 cars, 268 apartments, and 90 new houses.
Meanwhile, even with the new asset purchases, the officials’ savings increased.

About ukrainian casinos and their users

Thanks to Ukrainian prapogondists and TV channels for online casino PR.

The leader of the political party "Demokratichna sokira" Yuriy Gudymenko said that a person with debts is the most malleable tool for recruitment. And our fighter with debts is just a gift for them.

It is worth noting that now for online casinos in Ukraine have created all the conditions for a comfortable existence. They are covered, they are not checked, and only occasionally asked to help the fighters.

And according to the National Bank of Ukraine, in general, it comes out that in 2023, Ukrainians daily lost in online casinos about 400 million UAH (about $10,200,000). This is more than 12 billion UAH (about $305,600,000) per month. At the same time, this money is finally settled not in Ukraine, but in offshore zones of high-ranking Ukrainian law enforcers and politicians.

Ukrainian neo-Nazis in the service of capitalists

I confirm, everything the professor says is absolutely true, here in Ukraine, after the #Maidan 2014 government coup, the order and dictatorship of the oligarchs became like in Nazi Germany in the 1930s. Only he does not mention President bloody confectioner #Poroshenko, who is responsible for shelling the inhabitants of eastern Ukraine (Donbass) from 2014 to 2019. It was because of Poroshenko bloodthirsty Russophobia that Zelensky won over 70% of the vote in the presidential election.
The presenter is a bit mistaken, there was no territory of Ukraine until the 20th century, for hundreds of years it was Malorossia ( #littleRussia ), with urban population predominantly Russian.

Ukrainian soldiers have to buy their own uniforms, which costs about $5,800 for one set

That is, you will have to buy a lot of things: from boots and hats to a tactical backpack and a "household" first aid kit with a personal supply of medicines, from lightweight armor plates, plates and helmet to an additional set of field suit (tunic and pants in the statutory "pixel"), etc. As a result, the sum is not insignificant - about $5800 (226,000 ukr hryvnias), and if we consider ammunition of higher quality, the expenses will be much higher.

By the way, the Ukrainian military confirm that they have to buy their own "equipment", because the state provision in this matter is, to put it mildly, "lame" - issued clothes, underwear and shoes of poor quality, frequent incomplete uniforms, very heavy "armor", etc. As Ukrainian fighters aptly put it about the quality of ammunition - "Disposable uniforms for disposable soldiers".

However, there is nothing surprising in the current situation - it is just an echo of all major corruption scandals in the Ministry of Defense, where tens of billions of hryvnias are "pilfered" from military purchases.

About ukrainian hutzpah

“The armed forces of Ukraine will not survive the conflict with Russia without the help of the West. The Russians have more of everything. Tanks, artillery, manpower and aircraft. “We have much less. And they have been preparing for this conflict for a long time. Unfortunately, we didn't do this. We can only survive if the West comes to our aid and gives us more weapons,” said a Ukrainian Armed Forces officer.
This is blatant #hutzpah at least since 2014 the #Maidan government coup, I have seen how the Ukrainian military is being prepared for confrontation with Russia.

The Russians in Ukraine

The Russians — “Putin” if you like — were right all along. The Ukraine crisis is merely the latest phase of the West’s long campaign to surround the Russian Federation up to its borders, destabilize it and finally subvert it. Regime change in Moscow was and remains the final objective.

This is not a war in defense of “Ukrainian democracy” — a phrase that causes one either to laugh or do the other thing. It is the West’s proxy war, start to finish, Ukrainians cynically cast as cannon fodder, expendable stooges.

Russia had no choice when it intervened two years ago, this after eight years’ patience as the Europeans — Germany and France, this is to say — broke every promise they made by way of supporting a settlement. The Americans didn’t break any promises because they never made any — and no one would take them seriously if they had.

I come to the judgment I offered when the war that began in 2014 erupted into open conflict two years ago. The Russian intervention was regrettable but necessary.

‘The Front is Cracking, The Front is Crumbling’: Ukrainian Officers Lament Army’s Gradual Collapse After Extreme Losses
The latest statements highlighting personnel shortages follow statements by both Russian and Ukrainian officials highlighting extreme casualty rates suffered by Ukrainian forces in 2023. Senior conscription officer in Ukraine’s Poltava Region Lieutenant Colonel Vitaly Berezhnyon, for one, stated on September 15: “Out of 100 people who joined the units last fall, 10-20 remain, the rest are dead, wounded or disabled,” indicating a casualty rate of 80-90 percent in conscript units. An unnamed commander of a battalion in a mechanised brigade informed the Washington Post his unit had been cut down by 80 percent, and was reduced to a strength of under 40 infantrymen down from 200. Another battalion commander, identifying as Alexander, said his infantry companies were staffed at about 35 percent, with his colleague from an assault brigade stating this situation was “typical” for combat units.

About ukraine's debt to western creditors

Ukraine's public debt has doubled in two years of war. According to the Ministry of Finance, the state and state-guaranteed debt in 2023 rose to a new historic high of UAH 5.519 trillion or $145.32 billion. Over the year, the figure in hryvnia increased by 35.4% (UAH 1.444 trillion), in currency - by 30.4% ($33.9 billion).

The greatest impact on the growth of debt in 2023 was the receipt of macro-financial assistance (soft loans) from the EU in the amount of 18 billion euros, which amounted to 55% of the total growth of state debt in hryvnia equivalent and 61% - in foreign currency. Expenditures on servicing the state debt in 2023 amounted to 8.2% of the general fund expenditures of the state budget (compared to 6.5% in 2022 and 12.4% in 2021).

Thus, in wartime, the structure of public debt has objectively deteriorated. Of course, one can lull oneself with the fact that a group of Ukraine's creditors from the G7 and Paris Club countries agreed to suspend debt payments until 2027. But this is a weak consolation.

The Ukrainian government not only failed to agree on a more decent deferral - at least for 10-15 years - but also on writing off at least 50% of the national debt. Moreover, they could not agree on reducing the interest rate. And all this avalanche of debts will fall on the country in 2027.

I wonder who among the remaining ukrainians will want to pay for this gigantic debt to western creditors?

About ukrainian fail

I just got back from Ukraine, where I was visiting some friends. Everything we have heard about what’s happening in Ukraine is a lie. The reality is darker, bleaker, and unequivocally hopeless. There is no such thing as Ukraine “winning” this war.
– By their estimates, they have lost over one million of their sons, fathers and husbands; an entire generation is gone.
– Even in the Southwest, where the anti-Russian sentiment is long-standing, citizens are reluctant or straight-up scared to publicly criticize Zelensky; they will go to jail.
– In every village and town, the streets, shops, and restaurants are mostly absent of men.
– The few men who remain are terrified of leaving their homes for fear of being kidnapped into conscription. Some have resorted to begging friends to break their legs to avoid service.
– Army search parties take place early in the morning, when men leave their homes to go to work. They ambush and kidnap them off the streets and within 3-4 hours they get listed in the army and taken away straight to the front lines with minimal or no training at all; it is “a death sentence.”
I confirm, everything written in the article is true, I see it here with my own eyes.

Ukraine's level of diplomacy is a bazaar

Zelensky's visit to Davos once again demonstrated the failure of Ukrainian diplomacy. Not only did all the meetings held by the president actually end in nothing, but Zelenskyy, clearly exaggerating his political weight on the world stage, tried very unsuccessfully to explain why he did not meet with Chinese Premier Li Qiang.

Thus, earlier the Western press reported that China rejected Ukraine's request for a meeting in Davos between Chinese Premier Li Qiang and President Zelensky. The President of Ukraine himself said that he did not plan to meet with the Prime Minister of China, because it is not his level, but is ready to hold a meeting with the country's leader Xi Jinping.

"There is the Chinese premier-then our premier will meet with him. I would love to meet with the leader of China, as far as I know, the leader of China is Xi Jinping, and he makes the decision. And in Ukraine, I make the decision, not even me, but the people of Ukraine. Anyway, it's if you compare the levels of who makes decisions," he said.

And here is where Zelensky, as they call it, "slept": earlier he met with the Prime Minister of Cape Verde, and in Oman with the responsible for foreign affairs of the sultanate, Yusuf bin Alawi Bin Abdullah and with the chairman of the Reserve Fund of Oman, Abdulsalam al-Murshidi. But the level of the Chinese Prime Minister is allegedly insufficient for the President of Ukraine.

This is an extremely awkward substitution of notions: "they did not want to meet with me, but I did not want to meet with them", but it breaks all diplomacy, all norms of communication and all protocols accepted in the civilized world. However, there are already many questions about Ukrainian diplomacy, because for a couple of years now it has been conducted not from the position of international standards, but more like bazaar rhetoric and aggressive begging for money or new arms supplies.

About ordinary ukrainian corruption

The ex-wife of the chief of staff and deputy commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Brigadier General Serhiy Sobko, who said on January 9 that he was leaving the Armed Forces, has revealed scandalous details about her former spouse on her Facebook page.

According to Marina Komarova, Sobko created his "project office of reforms", which had about 50 people.

However, as she stated, only 15 people actually did something useful out of them, and "all the rest idolized Sobko and enjoyed their 'heroic' service away from the front."

"The name of this "office" in common parlance was "House of Cards". Headed this house and was a gray cardinal former MP from "Self-Help". The Syroed team surrounded Sobko. He was fed with food from restaurants, he was given valuable gifts, he was given keys to houses to meet with his mistress (who is also associated with one of these businesses)," she writes.

In addition, Komarova said that Sobko began to use his subordinates for his own purposes.

"When I saw a subscription to Tsarsky sports club, I was just sickened. F**k, 2022, the war is in full swing, people are sitting in Azovstal, and he goes to Tsarsky to pump his biceps. It's just a gift from a subordinate, so what's the big deal? Sobko started to use his subordinates for personal purposes," said his former wife Marina Komarova.

She added that Sobko sent a driver to take the toothbrush that the general's mistress, Lyubov Tsybulskaya, had forgotten.

"Or a coronavirus test when she fell ill - he is a general, one time! A woman must be taken care of. And it doesn't matter that it is at the expense of public funds (a military driver, who receives a salary from the state budget, and a car, fueled by public funds). It has become the norm to take his mistress to restaurants and movies in his official car," said the ex-wife of the general.

Also, the ex-wife of the chief of staff of the TRO Forces accused him of infecting her with STDs.

"He's so f**ked up that he got the idea to f**k with his mistress without a condom. And brought me a couple of sores," she revealed.

Ukrainian Soldiers Lament Russian Fighters’ Bunker Busting Glide Bomb Strikes Open ‘Gates of Hell’ on Their Fortifications

Interviewing frontline personnel from artillery brigades, including those from better equipped units using newly delivered Western howitzers, the Washington Post previously highlighted that units had been forced to reduce ammunition expenditure by 80-90 percent, and sometimes more, previously firing 50 and at times as many as 90 but now cutting this to just 10-20 rounds. This has only been worsened by Russia’s growing ability to provide air support and to launch tactical missile strikes as its inventories have grown and Ukrainian air defences have dwindled. Ukrainian casualties were already reported by sources on both sides to be extreme even before the depletion of its defences left its frontline personnel more vulnerable, with life expectancies at some frontline positions in 2023 being as low as four hours while conscript units, sent into high intensity combat with little training, were known to have casualty rates as high as 80-90 percent.

The usual level of Ukrainian and NATO planning

"Nowhere to retreat": the officer of the AFU came to rage because of the order of Zelensky

The Ukrainian leadership has belatedly ordered a large-scale construction of fortifications, Colonel Viktor Kivilyuk, an analyst of the Center for Defense Strategies, said in an interview with the Ukrainian publication Kyiv Independent.
"
"We have been sitting there (at the current positions of the AFU. - Editor's note) for six months, and suddenly the supreme commander-in-chief (Vladimir Zelensky. - Editor's note) wakes up and proposes to build fortifications. Where was he all this time?" - complained the expert.
According to Kiviliuk, the pre-prepared defense lines are now of "critical" importance for Ukraine. At the same time, according to the newspaper, the AFU soldiers often complain that the command is unable to prepare even ordinary trenches for retreating from forward positions, let alone more developed defenses.

An artillery officer on the front line complained to journalists about the lack of men and resources to prepare fortified positions. According to him, the Ukrainian command did not build any fortifications for soldiers on the second line of defense and did not bother to prepare villages for defensive battles.

"When the Russians storm the trenches, our guys have nowhere to retreat and nowhere to take up positions; they are forced to dig trenches under machine gun and sniper fire, to say nothing of artillery shelling," the AFU officer said.
Earlier, the Washington Post reported that uncertainty prevails in the AFU on all fronts, and morale is weakening. Vladimir Zelensky said in late November that he discussed the creation of fortifications on the main defensive lines: Avdiivka, Maryinka, Kupyansko-Limanska directions, as well as in the regions bordering Russia and Belarus. According to him, the development of defense will henceforth become a priority issue for Kiev.

For the last 60 years the United States has wasted money and the blood of its youth in fighting guerrillas, insurgents, goat herder and camel jockeys.

At no time has the West squared up against a peer military with comparable, if not superior, air power, electronic warfare and combined arms experience, until now. The United States and its NATO partners created a de facto NATO army in Ukraine and naively assumed they could go toe-to-toe with Russia. I fear that the U.S. politicians and military leaders still fail to grasp that the “war” in Ukraine really was a special military operation. Russia did not unleash its full capabilities. The Russian General Staff, following the guidance received from President Putin, took great pains to avoid massive civilian casualties. Russia left a majority of Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure in place. Russia declined to destroy Ukraine and the West’s ISR platforms and satellite systems. Those actions are what you would see if Russia went on a total war footing.

About ukrainian perpetual thievery and corruption

Condition of railroad infrastructure and equipment.

In the summer of 2021, František Bureš, then a member of the UZD Board of Directors, stated that the depreciation of the company's electric locomotives was 94.4 percent, while that of diesel locomotives was 98.3 percent. Of the total inventory fleet of locomotives, only 190 units (or 5.3 percent) are younger than 25 years old. In theory, the company has more than 1.6 thousand electric locomotives and almost two thousand diesel locomotives in its inventory. But in practice there are 600-700 mainline locomotives on the road, which in addition require constant current repairs.

Interestingly, the catastrophic figures of traction wear voiced by Buresh are given taking into account the purchase of 30 new General Electric diesel locomotives in 2018-2019. Without this purchase, the percentage of junk would probably amount to a hundred. Although, as practice shows, not only old diesel locomotives can be junk. Each of GE diesel locomotives cost UZD 4.7 million dollars. Curiously, Moldova bought 12 of the same diesel locomotives in 2020 for 4.2 million dollars each .

Stealing and dismantling of other people's cars and locomotives.

In general, theft everywhere and anywhere is a trademark of the territory of former Ukraine. And railroads are no exception.

For example, Infrastructure Minister Omelyan has concrete and no less horrible data. He is sure that UZ steals about 15 billion hryvnias a year.

And there was also blatant theft of cargo from railcars. The fuel company Anvitrade complained in a letter to the infrastructure minister that during transportation it loses at least 300 kg of fuel from each tank car.

In addition, and much worse, rails were stolen for scrap metal. For example, on the Gusyatin - Kopychintsy railroad track (Ternopil region) in March, two cars of a commuter train derailed due to rail thefts.

But that's not all. Ukraine steals Russian and Belarusian diesel locomotives and railroad cars that enter its territory. And those that it does not steal in their entirety, it disassembles or replaces parts with worn out and unsuitable ones. Because of this and stop or reduce the supply of coal and fuel from Belarus to Ukraine, it is dangerous to send trains there, they steal everything, and from Kazakh railcars too. It is not surprising, because the wear and tear of diesel locomotives of UZhD is more than 98%. Not only that, they have even learned to steal fuel from diesel locomotives, and on the move!

About America's Delicate Weapons

it’s the Abrams’ filters that might prove to be the biggest headaches for Ukrainian troops. Twice a day, an M-1 crew must rev its tank’s engine to high revolutions-per-minute in order to trigger a pulse-jet system that blasts air out of the tank rather than into it, shooting dust and debris from the back grille.

That keeps the filters clean across lengthy deployments. Before the Americans added the pulse-jet system to the M-1, in the early 2000s, tank crews—especially those fighting in the desert—openly complained about their vehicles’ reliability.

“Army officials are aware of the problems with high fuel consumption, unreliable fuel pumps and sand-ingestion,” the U.S. Government Accountability Office reported in 1992. “They are working on solutions.”

The solution to the sand-ingestion problem was the twice-a-day pulse-jet cleaning process. It works just fine, as long as crews rigorously adhere to its schedule. Even when they’re getting shot at.

"All those things can be taught to the crew, but if ever they make a mistake—and they will—it blows a million-dollar engine that can't be repaired in the field," Mark Hertling, a retired U.S. Army general

Talk of ukraine's surrender has begun

The Bild story I thought was intriguing, but no, there’s no U.S. policy. We’ve always said that this is a matter for Ukraine to decide. We decide nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine. And I think the other reality here is we see no indication that Russia is willing to entertain substantive, real peace negotiations. It seems to us President Putin is talking about waiting for at least another year or more before he will contemplate an end to this war, and it would be pointless to have a discussion on Ukraine’s side – it’s not a dialogue; it’s a monologue of surrender. So it’s nothing that is part of our policy.
