There's a TV series about the #England #Cricket team's visit to #Australia in 1932-33, when England pursued the infamous "bodyline bowling" strategy.

The series (at least Episode 1) seems to be on YouTube: https://youtu.be/R4qJbqsTGoY

Looks a bit underwhelming to me. Husic is using a narrow definition of harm that doesn't include harm that was not intended, or harm to our society and culture as a whole.

Claims at the beginning of article need substantiating. Its pure speculation that workers lives will be better or that pay packets will be larger.

Bringing wealth into our economy is no comfort when only the top 5% are getting a share of it.

Steven Miles, new Premier of Queensland, is a climate warrior, involved in Al Gore’s Climate Reality project for 15 years, just announced 2035 emission reduction target for #Queensland.

I can't find the lists of countries pledging at #COP28 on #energytransition:

* 116 sign the Global Renewables and Energy Efficiency Pledge,
* 27 countries sign UAE Hydrogen Declaration of Intent,
* 52 countries sign Global Cooling Pledge

But the 50 companies that signed Oil and Gas Decarbonization Charter (OGDC) to reduce operational emissions are listed.

Checked media release PDFs for links to any lists. Nothing. I could only confirm Australia signed Global Renewables and Energy Efficiency Pledge from a DCCEEW media release.

Other journalists have also asked for the pledge lists. Nuran Erkul got the Renewables pledge from media desk (Image attached) which reveals No China. No India. No South Africa. No Turkey. No Indonesia.

Australia would be one place where that doesn't apply. Most of ours are flying around. Even in suburbia they're eating the fruit from our trees and making a heck of a racket at sunset.

Here's a sulphur crested cockatoo eating loquats in my tree. Possibly the loudest birds on earth.

I didn’t realise that Matilda was #australia’s answer to Greta but I do now. All these new laws to stifle protest that the state governments have introduced show the power of the fine hand of the fossil fuel lobby.

I desperately hope so.
The Australian gay marriage plebiscite was touted as a loser beforehand, then was overwhelmingly in favour. Joy !!! All bc a huge majority of Aussies KNEW it was the right and just thing to do.

I have been hoping for a similar scenario for #Voice . However, the increasing meaness, apathy and stone-heartedness that Australians with settler heritage have shown towards #Australias1StNationPeople demonstrate that Australia is a deeply divided and by+large racist country.

Either that or the #Indigenouspeople who make up 3% of this nation are so invisible and misunderstood, that the other 97% just do not care what happens to them bc they're not even on their radar..

Either way it's heartbreakingly sad.
How the hell are #aboriginal communities supposed to feel if #Notovoice succeeds and they know that over half of #Australia has just written them off as unworthy of a #voice
How are they supposed to be "well" with that ?

3/3 The Climate Council warned in Feb 2023 that #Australia was a Powderkeg, primed to burn.

Do we have the air tankers in place? Are the CFA/SES and other specialist fire fighting and emergency services being adequately resourced?
