This week, Super Bowl 2024 shattered records, with the #NFL championship broadcast on CBS becoming the most-watched televised event in #US history.

Also riding high from the big game? #Elon #Musk's #X.

A whopping 75.85 percent of traffic from X to its advertising clients' websites during the weekend of the Super Bowl was fake.

"The EU has just sent formal letter to Elon Musk over "indications" that Twitter/X is “being used to disseminate illegal content and disinformation in the EU" in the wake of Hamas’ attacks on Israel."

#Musk has 24 hours to respond. I love it!

Dear Mr Musk, Following the terrorist attacks carried out by Hamas against Isracl, we have indications that your platform is being used to disseminate illegal content and disinformation in the EU. Let me remind you that the Digital Services Act sets very precise obligations regarding content moderation. First, you need to be very transparent and clear on what content is permitted under your terms and consistently and diligently enforce your own policies. This is particularly relevant when it comes to violent and terrorist content that appears to circulate on your platform. Your latest changes in public interest policies that occurred over night left many European users uncertain. Second, when you receive notices of illegal content in the EU, you must be timely, diligent and objective in taking action and removing the relevant content when warranted. We have, from qualified sources, reports about potentially illegal content circulating on your service despite flags from relevant authorities. Third, you need have in place proportionate and effective mitigation measures to tackle the risks to public security and civic discourse stemming from disinformation. Public media and civil society organisations widely report instances of fake and manipulated images and facts circulating on your platform in the EU, such as repurposed old images of unrelated armed conflicts or military footage that actually originated from video games.

"Ukrainian troops have reported outages of their Starlink communication devices on the frontline, hindering efforts to liberate territory from Russian forces"

"Roman Sinicyn ... said the problem may be occurring because SpaceX was trying to prevent its misuse by Russian forces."

Aren't subscriptions required to access the starlink service? Either the Russian army has subscriptions (!!), or the Ukrainian army is being hindered.

“I’m proud that we were able to provide the terminals to folks in
Ukraine,” SpaceX president Gwynne Shotwell said …, “I don’t think the
U.S. has given us any money to give terminals to the Ukraine.”

But

USAID agreed to purchase closer to 1,500 standard Starlink terminals
for $1,500 apiece (a standard terminal set costs $600) and to pay an additional $800,000 for transportation costs, … adding up to over $3 million in taxpayer dollars…

starlink profit

by 2025, the company (SpaceX) think[s] broadband satellite internet could be a $30 billion-a-year business, generating six times more revenue than the company gets from launching rockets…

SpaceX expects Starlink to produce …more than $10 billion in [annual] operating profit.

…building Starlink is expected to cost $10 billion in total…

And as WSJ reported… there's a chance Musk could get U.S. taxpayers to pay for all of Starlink

Musk fears take-back of Crimea

"[Elon] Musk, speaking to [political analyst Ian] Bremmer, said that he had been asked by Ukraine's defense ministry to activate Starlink in Crimea, which was invaded and illegally annexed by Russia in 2014. Per Bremmer, Musk 'refused given the potential for escalation.'"
