Your point that voters did not notice Trump's peril to our country is important. It has been my experience going back at least to the 1970s that many people do not have a working knowledge of the distinction between "different" and "better." A HUGE number of voters clearly did not want Joe Biden and it did not occur to enough of them that different was going to be worse. They just wanted change. Biden simply was not willing to explain his achievements and goals to voters. He simply did not talk well to the American people. Shouting to a crowd that the United States had the best economy in the world was enough for him, while voters were still worried about a possible recession and the beating they took from inflation. We need new leaders with a heck of a lot better electoral skills than that. Lessons we should have learned from Vietnam were not applied to the senseless Netanyahu-led slaughter in Gaza.
