Delete your #Threads, #Bluesky, or #Twitter account, and go join #Mastodon. Trust me you won't miss anything from them since Mastodon is a lot like them without the ads, or the corporate shittyness.
Go try out #LoopsVideo instead of #TikTok. It is shaping up to be a great alternative to TikTok.
Go try out #PeerTube it is a lot like #YouTube, and it doesn't have ads, nor any of the crap that comes from being owned by #Google.
Go try out #OwnCast it is a lot like #Twitch, but it is more free and doesn't have ads ruining the live streams.
But I don't know much about Friendica, so I thought I'd ask for some #FediHelp . Are there any pointers you can give him, including what he needs to know for self-hosting? I will share the link to this post with him.

Mastodon, Threads, and Bluesky may be popular options, but how do they compare to Hubzilla?
This table compares #decentralized #social #media platforms. Some of the terminology is different between platforms, but the core #concepts are the same. We have included the terminology each platform uses (where there is enough space to do so).
For example, on #Mastodon and #Bluesky, you create an "account" which serves as your #online #identity and social media presence, but on #Hubzilla it's called a "channel," and on #Threads it's called a "profile." In other words, a "channel" is the equivalent of a Mastodon account or Bluesky account or Threads #profile. We will use the term "channel" throughout to make the table simpler.
