"6 iPhone Camera Tips to Enhance Your Photography Skills"

This is worth reading, even if you know the Camera app pretty well.

There were a few interface elements I did not know, and I found the write-ups on those I WAS familiar with to be insightful.

#photography nerditry:

I've been playing with the Rogeti RG1 geared tripod head, and I'm liking it more than I expected to. Rogeti is a small specialized Chinese manufacturer; the tripod head is their flagship product. Compared with the Arca C1 Cube (my go-to), it's a bit smaller and lighter, but the thing that's really growing on me is the interchangeable modules for z-axis (panning) movements.

It's not cheap (about USD900), and there are a few annoying quirks, but I'm using it more and more.

Liverpool waterfront, the three graces with the Edward VII Monument , Mann Island. A late spring breezy morning and a gap big enough in the crowds for me to take this shot.

#Karstmas day 22

I love cave pearls, they are one of my favourite formations. So when we found a bunch in a new cave we discovered, dug open, explored, and surveyed, I was quite excited!

Similar in a way to the pearls you may think of, they form often around a bit of sand or a teeny tiny rock, when the water hits it and precipitates out some calcite. They develop extremely slowly, and are a relatively rare formation due to the precise situations they require in order to form.

A photo of shallow small pool of water held in by rimstone. Everything is shiny and pure looking. In the water are round objects of varying sphere like shapes, ranging in color from pure white to slightly gray to slightly tan, but all are very light and bright and clean. They are in clusters, and there are over 50 in this image.

149 years ago today, a man named Carter Godwin Woodson was born in New Canton, Virginia, to Anna Eliza Riddle Woodson and James Woodson, both former slaves.

“To have faith is to trust yourself to the water. When you swim you don’t grab hold of the water, because if you do you will sink and drown. Instead you relax, and float.” ― Alan Wilson Watts

The neighbor in the back turned on a super bright light for unknown reasons, making the trees look very eery. No snow or ice.

A very early post for today's picture, since I was inspired to capture my morning latte.

In late 1987 my friends and I hiked through #Lydford Gorge in #Dartmoor. I shot a roll of black and white film, rewound it, and then double exposed it in the camera. The results were astounding. Thank you for developing this roll for me, Andy, wherever you are!
