Welcome To Canterbury

Within the Christchurch Gateway at Canterbury Cathedral, England.
The smaller wooden door to the right is opened at 4:00pm every weekend to allow dog owners to 'chase the bishop'. A tradition beginning in the 16th century in which locals with hounds would pursue members of the clergy round and round the gate entrance.

"Cholet" buildings by Aymara Bolivian civil engineer and self-taught architect Freddy Mamani, c. 2010s, whose distinctive "Neo-Andean" buildings (primarily found in the city of El Alto) are inspired by Aymara carvings and textile motifs.

Cluster of three colorful, playfully designed buildings with geometric motifs including circles, steps, and snakes, with angled roofs and a mixture of textures
A large horizontal building with bold geometric facade in red, yellow, white, and orange colors. The symmetrical design features curved borders and circle patterns.
A vertical building with bold geometric facade in peach, red, grey, and blue colors and symmetrical design. The central motif resembles an abstract bird with wings spread wide on either side.
A narrow vertical building with bold geometric facade in white and blue colors. Playful geometric motifs run up and down the walls and the square glass windows reflect the blue and clouds of the sky.

Update on "The Line," or NEOM, aka the wacked-out megacity horizontal skyscraper project in the Saudi desert:

-20,000 indigenous people displaced
-21,000 workers dead
-100,000 more workers missing
-16 hour workdays and atrocious conditions for workers
-racist comments about workers by senior executives
-incoming president of the Royal Institute of British Architects, Chris Williams, is directly involved in it
-so are multiple other high-profile architecture firms, including Zaha Hadid, who, when told about human rights abuses committed during the construction of her design for the Qatar World Cup, said, “I’m not taking it lightly but I think it’s for the government to look to take care of. It’s not my duty as an architect to look at it.”
-Superstudio, a radical group of Italian architects, proposed a similar "line in the city" idea back in the 1970s--as a critique of capitalism

Sunset View Point The Great Meteoron Monastery Meteora Greece

At the end of the evening tour, we went to the best viewpoint on the rocks to watch the sun setting behind the mountain range of Pindos or according to Greek mythology, we saw the god Helios on his fiery chariot taking his horses to rest.

My shots of the evening of changing light painting the landscape in shifting hues of rose and orange sunset at Meteora was a once-in-a-life-time experience. A perfect end of the day with a stunning sunset at Psaropetra sunset view point in Meteora.
