Why is it always so stressful trying to make a complaint to a company/bank these days?🤔

Well,
1) Sending me a message via online banking message about their branch closing in a town I haven't lived in for 14 years, even though they put my correct/current address at the top as if it were a posted letter 🤦🤦‍♂️🤦‍♀️.
2) All details of alternatives in the old town I've not lived in for over a decade, present!
3) All details of alternatives in the current town I live in & have done for over a decade, tumbleweed has more presence.🤯

4) Online 24/7 help not working & hitting the Retry button just repeats the fail.😠
5) DDG to the rescue but could they(the bank) just give me a frelling postal address?
... Nope!
6) Find working online complaint page.
7) Yay! I should no in '...four days...' once I've completed this form.
8) Starts simple but then the Qs get more ambigious, my complaint might be to do with that option or it might not. If only there was a blue circle with one of these❕ that I could hover the mouse over for more info.😡📈
9) Finally done > SUBMIT
10) Nope, I missed something? Then why the F did it not show me when I was at that part of the FRELLING form⁉️📈🤬
11) Success❕ Or was it?
It will take 1 - 8 weeks before they get can deal with the thing & that long for them to get back to me about it.
What happened to FOUR DAYS❗🤬⁉️📈🤬

Guess I best forget about it so I can have a nice surprise in 1 - 8 weeks... or not 🤷.

Found this great resource:
https://autisticgirlsnetwork.org/downloads/

You can download "passports" for free for yourself and/or someone you support who has autism. Generally geared towards girls, but this includes gender diverse individuals.

Being black and auDHD are the core part of my very being. It's not just an identity, it is a way of life. And I should NEVER apologize for being who I am and what I do whatsoever.

Such an ableist book and article! #Autism, #ADHD, cancer, Lyme disease, etc. are not the same thing. 🤮 😡

I’m not sick, I’m #AuDHD and I had breast cancer.

Why The Guardian keeps publishing these ableist articles? ( rhetorical question)

@actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd

Not long ago I complained about how executive dysfunction regularly makes my life worse.
Now, the other thing my #AuDHD brain tends to do is over-commitment.
Can you imagine how these to become a terrible duo? Promising too many things and then sometimes not even able to start those?
*screaming into the void*

@actuallyautistic
...we don't know very much today! But yes, back in the 70s, and before, our attitudes were ... shamefully primitive.

If I had been diagnosed #AuDHD in the 50s, when I was born, I would've been put quietly away in an institution, and never seen in normal society. I would have been 'disappeared'. 😭

:BlahajHoldingNeurodivergentSymbol: owww I've been browsing the store by @AutisticInnovator and there's so many cool stuff there... Gives me an extra reason for wishing I had more money...

I was wondering though, should I ever get rich enough, will it be possible to order from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 (EU), as I only see UK mentioned...

I doubt I'll be rich enough any time soon, as Skoosh needs her yearly TLC next month. But I've bookmarked the site, just in case...

For those (#AuDHD) being interested, the store can be found here: https://shop.autisticinnovator.com/

Worried how someone will react if you tell them you're autistic? Want some tips to make that conversation go better? And deal with rejection sensitivity if it doesn't?

Perfect timing. I'm hosting a free workshop tomorrow on that.

Inclusive. Recorded. Actually free.

Are these deficits?

I can certainly see why current human society would frame them as such!

But I have another word for possessing less 'theory of mind'.

Authenticity.

Read recently in How to ADHD by Jessica McCabe: “she put her medication in her shoes“ (or something like this), because that way she doesn’t forget her medication.

My more recent trick is to keep in front on the lamp on my bedside table the moisturizer, because I need to hydrate the arm where I have a lymphodema when I go to bed. I don’t forget because I have to move it to turn on the light. 😂

What kind of personal trick you use to not forget (at least try not to) to do/take something? Share your tips!

(edit to change the language of the post, I always forget. 🫠)

So, in my search to find something to help my business I figured I'd give the whole blogging thing a try again. Google ranks new stuff in my store in the top 10 really fast usually, so articles give me more reach on Google, which is how I make most of my money. Not sure if short videos is a skill I can learn or not, but writing an article just flows so naturally.

This article was outlined and somewhat written back in 2022, so I finished it and posted it to the store.

as an #ActuallyAutistic person who might be #AuDHD I totally relate.... especially regarding RFK.

So, where do we draw the line between difference and disability? Is there a way to celebrate neurodivergent identity while acknowledging the challenges it brings? #ADHS #AuDHD

I had an #autistic moment last week that resulted in ripped trousers, damaged jacket and a cut finger. I am hideously embarrassed by this, an attempt to bypass a downed fence across a path I regularly use. I’m saying so here in an attempt to remove some power from it. The jacket is being repaired, the trousers demoted to ‘decorating wear’ (as if I’ll ever decorate) and the finger, slightly infected, but now healing. ❤️‍🩹 Just tryna love myself and move on.

How are you doing? 🙂

Even before I understood I'm autistic, let alone AuDHD, I started making accommodations to facilitate my work. This was around the end of the first Covid year. My therapist was instrumental in the initation of this. Since then, I've refined my system before each term.

For instance, I use post-its, lots of them. One the one hand, they help my shoddy memory. On the other hand, they help me do things in a piecemeal fashion instead of tackling huge, daunting tasks. A big plus is the satisfaction I get from crumpling each post-it once I've finished the task involved.

I also reserve time slots in my calendar not only for meetings and teaching but important tasks. If the scheduling seems too tight or for some reason something isn't that urgent and I don't feel like doing the task then, I've reserved the right to move those slots. Not feeling like doing something is a clear message from my brain that I have to take it easier.

This term, the new thing I'm trying is working from home on Wednesdays. Last fall I understood that going to office five days a week exhausts me, mostly due to commuting. Now I've divided the office time to two 2-day periods per week with one day in between when I don't have to leave home (apart from something minor such as walking the dog or going to local grocery store). So far, it seems like a good practice.

During the lockdowns I noticed that working from home doesn't work well for me. One day is alright but when the stint is longer, there are too many distractions and my productivity plummets. With this new system, I seem to get most out of working from home meanwhile I get a mini break from commuting.

I'm finding Skipper to be extremely helpful, especially as an #ActuallyAutistic person with a brain injury. It's helping me to save and categorize tutorials, videos, games, etc., that I want to look at later without having 1000 tabs open. I think it would be especially helpful for #ADHD and #AuDHD people as well.

🧵 1/2 Last week I receive a language report from new school behaviorist. Bad words my son used, all euphemisms. No context. And a schedule of punishments.

Eventually I found part of the issue was his being triggered by the adult when told his PBT score would be reduced. Then he reacts badly and then the punishments add up. His previous behaviorist figured this out and approached it differently.

Meine Ressourcensammlung rund um die Themen #ADHS #AuDHS #AuDHD #autismus #ADHD #Autism #adhsmedien Kernfragen hier beschäftigen sich mit: Was ist eigentlich das autistische Spektrum? Was sollte man über ADHS wissen?

Why is wanting to know why and how things work societally pathologized in individuals with autism?

Like, why wouldn't you want to know? How else are you supposed to make a good decision?

Why is a default of replication without further reflection considered normal?

I have been feeling real overwhelm because of the dreadful state of the house. Something my wife innocently said this evening suddenly shoved me straight over the #AuDHD precipice of depression, self-doubt, and self-accusation: I am telling myself that everybody believes that we live in filth because I am lazy, and why is everyone else able to maintain cleanliness, but not me.

Send help.

"On average, people with #MS have a decreased life expectancy of around 7 years."

🤔 Life expectancy for a male in my area is 78. And I'm 70 soon. So statistically, I have a year left! 😮

I'd better hope for the best... 🙃

As I come to understand my #autism better (I was only diagnosed 7 years ago, aged 63), I realise I have lived a hopelessly innocent and naive life.

I have always tried to live my actual real life trying to be decent (etc). I thought everyone did the same. What a fool I have been. 😢

There are days where I can craft the most beautiful sentences and express myself fluently.

And there are days where forming a single coherent sentence, hell even thought, feels like so. much. work.

The chasm between these two escapes my ability to describe. And ability to comprehend to be honest.

Last night my son was up late and I checked in. He asks if I want to see the drawing he did. I had questions. I’m impressed! I did ask if he traced it. Nope. He hand drew it, inverted. My son who school “professionals,” and who know better than parents, said he had small motor issues and that’s why he had trouble writing. Nope! It turns out he loves to write and draw and create. He just couldn’t learn it FROM YOU.

If you are hosting a holiday gathering where #autistic or #ADHD folk will attend (or anyone else who would benefit), please consider setting up a #ChillRoom as a quiet space where they can go to escape the sensory overwhelm and draining socializing. It's not that ND folk don't want to be part of the action, but we can get worn out easily and a place where we can isolate and recharge lets us avoid overdoing things and so get the most out of the party.

You can ask people what they might like in a chill room, but snacks, family photo albums, coffee table books, plushies, puzzles, playing cards, comic books, fidget toys, and lego bricks are all reasonable things to try. And it doesn't have to be a solo space – a quiet, out-of-the-way spot to sit and have a conversation is also nice. Protip: If there is an aquarium in the home, use that to anchor the chill space. Nothing beats a good fish tank for chilling out, though a window with a picturesque view is a close second.

If you're someone who would like to have a chill room available at someone else's holiday gathering, try asking them to set one up, or maybe offer to help set it up if that's not too much trouble. Sometimes all you have to do is ask.

Good luck with your holidays, make an effort to include the people whose needs usually get overlooked, and don't let anyone make you feel bad for not being able to keep up with the neurotypical social norms.
