From a recent visit to an ENT (ear, nose, throat) physician, it appears I have a painful condition known as trigeminal neuralgia aka tic douloureux. It is resulting in it being very painful to eat, drink, swallow, brush teeth, smile, sleep, and even breathe sometimes, and has been intense for a few weeks now.

And a first-line treatment (the drug Trileptal, -- oxcarbazepine) that I am taking for a mental health condition could instead be doing the opposite reaction and exacerbating the condition.

Does anyone have any stories you can share about the condition and possibly treatment that worked for you or someone you know? It seems to be less discussed in the non-clinical setting.

Ich habe da mal etwas für #FragDasFediverse.

Da meine #Synology DS710+ inzwischen auch schon 12 Jahre oder mehr auf dem Buckel hat, mache ich mir langsam Gedanken über eine mögliche Nachfolge. Ich nutze mein #NAS hauptsächlich für Urlaubsvideos und Urlaubsfotos.

Dabei überlege ich mir, ob ich mir wieder eine Synology hole oder u. U. ein #Qnap Gerät. Die Frage ist nur, ob ein Qnap wesentliche Vorteile gegenüber einer Synology mitbringt oder ober dass Jacke wie Hose ist?

Ebenso schwirren mir Gedanken über ein Selbstbau-NAS im Kopf herum. Es gibt da ja #TrueNAS und #Openmediavault. Welche Vor- bzw. Nachteile haben die beiden genannten Lösungen gegenüber? Gibt es noch andere Softwarelösungen? Wäre für so etwas ein #RaspberryPi bzgl. Leistung ausreichend?

Was mir noch wichtig wäre, dass man mit diesem NAS auch so etwas wie #SabNZBD, #Nextcloud o. ä. installieren und nutzen kann. Ob dies dann über #Docker oder einer anderen Lösung genutzt wird, ist mir jetzt erst einmal egal.

Was ist mir noch wichtig:
- Der Stromverbrauch sollte sich in Grenzen halten
- Die Installation und Wartung sollte keine 87 Semester IT-Studium benötigen
- Was spricht für eine Selbstbau-Lösung, was dagegen?
- Habe ich bei meinen Überlegungen etwas übersehen?

#Sewing & #Mending friends, I have a #question for you.

I have a top sheet with a ~25cm vertical tear inside the body of the sheet (i.e., it's landlocked).

I want to mend it in a good enough way. I'm **not going to sew it**, make it look pretty, etc. I just want to not stick my foot through it in the night.

Current best option: duct tape (which is probably not ideal).

Is there a fast, easy way to make a non-sewing fix? Like a fabric tape or something? 1/n

If you click on a link in a Bluesky post, it is now automatically redirected via the domain go.bsky.app before it actually goes to the link in the post. There is no way to stop this or know that it is happening as the redirect only flickers on the screen for a fraction of a second.

Presumably this means Bluesky can now track all link clicking on their platform, including IP addresses, destinations etc?

Or have I misunderstood?

Bluesky is spinning it as a tool for publishers to track referrals, but going beyond the spin it seems to be giving Bluesky access to people's online activity?

Nach der Migration des Postfaches durch meinen Provider zu Microsoft ist mein Thunderbird kaputt oder was auch immer, das alte Postfach/Konto. Der Papierkorb zeigt eine Zahl von 320 Nachrichten. Geht man auf den Ordner erscheinen genau Null Nachrichten. Inhalt löschen geht folglich auch nicht. Reparieren hat auch nichts gebracht. Was nun ... Ob ich einfach das alte Postfach/Konto lösche ?

@FediTips, I’m having a lot of trouble with the mastodon iPhone app where all of a sudden while reading a toot the screen jerks and I’m pushed to 5 or 10 posts down. I have to scroll back up to continue reading what I was before being interrupted. Then it happens again. I’m suspecting this is possibly because some of the posts with links render a preview and causes all posts under it to realign vertically. Is this a known issue?
