I'm of mixed opinions. Not up to the standards of the 'Vinyl Detective' series (centred around an obsession with #paperback crime stories) but fun. However my conflict stems from the fact that although the chief baddy is a very nasty man, the anti-heroine did start things by stealing his precious collection of crime books! No synpathy from us.

Je me suis plongée dans Le chant de la rivière de Wendy Delorme chez Cambourakis et mon coeur a été emporté dans un torrents d’émotion et de poésie. Franc coup de coeur pour ce double récit qui parle d’amour et donne à entendre la voie de minorités qui trouvent dans cette montagne un écho puissant. C’est beau et dévastateur, et la nature elle-même se fait ici protagoniste et narratrice, témoignant de la plus belle des façons de la capacité des gens à s’aimer d’un amour pur et magnifique.

Entre essai et parties romancées, cette biographie de Jenny Marx se lit sans peine, même pour une néophyte comme moi. À travers elle, c’est la fresque d’une époque mouvementée qui se dessine mais aussi la condition des femmes de l’époque. Une découverte fort intéressante d’une personnalité remarquable qui rappelle le collectif sous le nom.

Auto-publiée à l’automne 2024, il s’agit à l’origine d’un texte écrit il y a quelques années lorsque ses soeurs sont toutes les deux tombées enceintes. Dans ce court récit d’anticipation aux accents écologiques, l’autrice nous propose un univers riche et passionnant. Mais c’est aussi une histoire envoûtante et réconfortante qui parle de liens, de secrets de famille et rend hommage à la nature. C’est doux et chaleureux comme un plaid en hiver.

Petite pause BD avec La princesse d’Hazelwood d’Arianna Calabretta publiée ce 8 janvier aux éditions Aventuriers d’ailleurs. Il s’agit d’une bande dessinée jeunesse fantastique qui parle de deuil, d’acceptation de soi et se drape de légendes et de magie pour proposer une belle aventure initiatique.

Très coloré, et très beau, ce conte est aussi plein d’émotions et propose une belle histoire. J’ai regretté une densité qui empêche d’explorer pleinement tous les fils narratifs mais j’ai globalement passé un très bon moment.

Ich bin mit einem meiner Projekte ein bisschen festgefahren und dachte, dass es vielleicht hier Ideen gibt, die mir weiterhelfen.

Ich habe im letzten Winter einen Roman oder Erzählung oder so geschrieben, die jetzt mit der kommenden Wahl super ins Zeitgeschehen passen würde. Jetzt komme ich aber mit der Veröffentlichung nicht weiter, weiß nicht wie sowas funktioniert, kenne niemand zum lektorieren, aber vielleicht dafür wen für den Buchsatz.

Ich will kein Schriftsteller werden, aber würde dieses Projekt gerne rausbringen, weil es eventuell Leuten zu Erkenntnissen oder einfach Freude verhilft. Es wäre auch schade so viel Arbeit auf meiner HDD verkommen zu lassen (wie so viel anderes schon).

Plot: Eine Gruppe Kinder aus einem großstädtischen, akademischen, linken Freie Schule und Hausprojekt-Milieu begibt sich in den Sommerferien auf eine selbstorganisierte Fahrradtour durch Deutschland. Begleitet werden sie dabei von einem älteren, depressiven, ostdeutschen Antifa-Aktivisten. Das Geschehen wird überschattet vom Amtsantritt einer neofaschistischen Regierung und gerät aus den Fugen. Just finished reading this book about the 1980 Iranian embassy siege in London. Anyone else read it? Ben Macintyre is very good at these popular non-fiction books about war and spies etc; he has a knack of bringing all the people involved to life with plentiful character description.

I would have bought the Kindle ebook of this, but it was too expensive! So borrowed it from the library instead. Text a bit too small, but I persevered.
