Journalistic malpractice.

Headlines of many corporate media sites today along the line:
"New York police warn US healthcare executives about online ‘hitlist’

The "hitlists" turn out to be .... drum roll ... popular social media posts listing the names and salaries of healthcare CEOs.

The correct term for this is "information".

Echoing pure NYPD propaganda is not how you cool down things.

'It Had to Be Done': #LuigiMangione Manifesto Revealed

"A reminder: the U.S. has the #1 most expensive healthcare system in the world, yet we rank roughly #42 in life expectancy," the 26-year-old accused of assassinating a health insurance CEO reportedly wrote.

lol even the petty little far right bootlickers at the New York Post (I’m not linking to it) can’t stop themselves from saying “where’s the lie” with a couple paragraphs
The alleged manifesto included raging remarks about “parasitic” health insurance companies and expressed disdain for corporate greed and power, according to law enforcement sources.

He allegedly also wrote that the US has the most expensive healthcare system in the world and that profits of major corporations continue to rise while “our life expectancy” does not.

A single Mutation could bring Bird Flu a critical Step closer to a New Pandemic.

With the H5N1 bird flu virus spreading quickly across animals in the US, experts are on high alert for signs of human-to-human transmission. Such a jump could become far easier with just a single mutation, according to new research.

https://www.scripps.edu/news-and-events/press-room/2024/20241205-wilson-paulson-h5n1.html

The virus has a fatality rate of 50 percent in humans, so animal infections need to be carefully monitored and tightly controlled to stop the spreading strain of H5N1 adapting into something that one person can give directly to another.

"Our experiments revealed that the Q226L mutation could significantly increase the virus ability to target and attach to human-type receptors," says biochemist James Paulson. "This mutation gives the virus a foothold on human cells that it didn't have before, which is why this finding is a red flag for possible adaptation to people."

<Receptor binding site of the A/Texas/37/2024 hemagglutinin Leu226 mutant (yellow) in complex with the human receptor analog LSTc (cyan).>

While several of these morphing mutations are usually needed to put humans in danger from avian influenza, this time the transformation process could be quicker, scientists from the Scripps Research Institute in California found.

"The findings demonstrate how easily this virus could evolve to recognize human-type receptors," says infectious disease scientist Ting-Hui Lin, first author of the new study.

The researchers also investigated the H5N1 2.3.4.4b strain of the virus found in recent human infections, finding that a single amino acid mutation in a key protein would be enough to switch the virus target from avian-type receptors to human-type receptors.

Routine peri-operative cessation of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists has unintended consequences

These include:
• risk of further delays to surgery due to deranged pre-operative glucose
• harm from peri-operative hyperglycaemia

I obviously don't encourage the taking of human lives, but I find no fault with this man's manifesto. Also, health insurance companies shouldn't take human lives.

No, people do not hate rich (wealthy) people.

Let's be real, and admit that most people would not mind being wealthy (rich) themselves, and so that is not the true issue. The issue is many (but not all) of these wealthy people did not become wealthy through sheer work and determination, but instead at the expense of their fellow human beings. Often with no care for the many lives they negatively impacted.

If you like astrology, it will make you happy to know that United Healthcare, and the scam that is American for-profit health insurance in general, is probably about to get a kick in the a$$ from Karma Herself.

"Given the corruption out there, you can personally expect (and we can all collectively expect) 2025 and 2026 to revolve the karma for those at fault."

The system is unsustainable. We all know it.

UNITEDHEALTH IS NOW ON A FAMOUS ‘STUCK RECORD’ KARMA CYCLE. The past is coming for them, and it all starts in January 2025.

In this feature I will look at the South Node in Virgo (public health) and why the murder of the UnitedHealth CEO will lead straight to a 2025-2026 cycle.

My sister’s husband has rare & aggressive tumor in his leg and they haven’t even finished chemo yet, much less removed the tumor and she’s being told that she has 4 months to pay for everything and that she’ll need to take out a loan to pay for it.

The news media wants you to be up in arms over some greedy a-hole millionaire in #healthcare… meanwhile people are struggling with medical bills that are crippling.

The media, and their billionaire overlords, can go stuff themselves. #FreeLuigi

Whatever gripes we may have about publicly funded health care, privatization sure as hell isn’t the answer.
#health #healthcare
A graph from Our World in Data plotting life expectancy versus health expenditure shows that citizens in most of a basket of countries with public health care enjoy average life expectancies of between 80 and 88 years and expend between $2,000 and $6,000 per capita on health care. The outlier is the USA in which, despite a per capita expenditure of more than $10,000, life expectancy is slightly above 78 and, in recent yesrs, has dropped.

#Healthcare as suffering: “We sat in the hospital for 3 days b/c #UnitedHealthcare refused to approve the transfer via ambulance from the hospital where we live to another state. & at that point, I was ready to just get in my car & take her [1-year old baby with a giant brain tumor] there myself. But UHC told us if we left the hospital by our own will, & it wasn’t via ambulance, they were not going to cover her @ the next hospital we went to,” she said.

Our profit-driven #healthcare system too often prioritizes productivity & financial goals over patient interests. Our system is BROKEN—health facilities overcharge & underdeliver. Nearly 1 in 4 Americans have medical debt…👇

The fact mainstream #media almost exclusively reports on the #UHC murder investigation but little on the public being pleased is such a HUGE failing. I’ve seen maybe one article on the matter. Seriously, our #healthcare is so broken that the public applauds a CEO’s death and the media is so lacking that they’d produce more #nothingburger articles on minor updates than dig deeper into the reaction.

Ronald Reagan’s real legacy, charted and graphed. Spoiler: It’s not the bedtime story we’ve been told.

A visual breakdown of the inequality, debt, and mass incarceration still shaping our lives.

'Trickle-down' economics was never real.

A collage of seven charts critiquing socioeconomic trends tied to Ronald Reagan’s presidency, each marked with his face & arrows highlighting the 1980s:

1. A chart shows rising income inequality from 1947 to 2017, with disparities widening in the early 1980s.
2. A graph compares healthcare spending to life expectancy, with the U.S. diverging in 1985 due to high costs & limited gains.
3. A chart shows the top marginal tax rate dropping sharply during Reagan’s presidency.
4. A graph tracks federal debt as a percentage of GDP, which begins rising steeply in the 1980s.
5. A chart highlights growing U.S. debt in the 1980s, both in 2014 dollars & as a percentage of GDP.
6. A chart compares tuition, income, & minimum wage growth in Illinois since 1970, with tuition surging in the early 1980s.
7. Two graphs on incarceration show prison populations rising sharply after Reagan’s 1980s "War on Drugs."

Charts reveal long-term impacts of Reagan-era policies on inequality, debt, & incarceration.

While your health is at stake, #insurance cos are playing a game of “denials for dollars 💵”…& they don’t like to lose.

Why do we allow them to dictate what happens to our own health? It’s highway robbery—patients suffer & die bc of denials of care. Insist on change.

This is the first mainstream story I've seen that covers people's reactions and feelings about the medical insurance industry, instead of the shooting and the manhunt.

It still calls the shooting "shocking", despite the fact that nobody I know has expressed any shock at all over it, more like sage nods and "Shoulda seen that coming" expressions. (I wonder what manufacturing consent would look like? 🤔) But it's a start.

Here's my experience with Medicare, which is single-payer health insurance in the US for seniors and disabled people: I got diagnosed with a condition that has expensive immunotherapy on the Medicare formulary as the first-line treatment.

My doc prescribed it and Medicare pays for it.

That's it.

The propaganda against Medicare is so strong because UHC and the like make tens of billions of dollars denying care like mine.

"Medicare Advantage, also known as Part C, was supposed to save the government money. The competition among private insurance companies, and with traditional Medicare, to manage patient care was meant to give insurance companies an incentive to find efficiencies. Instead, the program’s payment rules overpay insurance companies on the taxpayers' dime."

USA Today Headline describes healthcare in the US as a 'sad burden'

when in reality, almost all of us know that for-profit US health insurance (it is not 'care') is actually killing people, destroying people's lives, and inhaling their entire life savings.
