"The New York Times has killed an investigation by one of its own reporters into Israeli mob violence in Amsterdam earlier this month.

In an internal Times email inadvertently shared with The Electronic Intifada, Dutch reporter Christiaan Triebert explained to a manager that he had pitched “a visual investigation I was conducting into the events of [6-8 November] in Amsterdam.”

“Unfortunately, that story was killed,” he wrote. “I regret that the planned moment-by-moment visual investigation was not further pursued.”

“This has been very frustrating, to say the least,” Triebert wrote.

The email was addressed to senior Times manager Charlie Stadtlander – a former senior press officer for the US National Security Agency and for the US army.

Triebert appeared interested in carrying out reporting that would set the record straight, remediating the false narrative insistently advanced by his own newspaper – that the Israeli fans were victims of mob violence motivated by anti-Jewish hatred.

The correspondence between Triebert and Stadtlander on Friday was triggered by The Electronic Intifada’s requests for comment to The Times regarding the paper’s highly misleading reporting of Israeli mob violence in Amsterdam."

U.S. telecoms giant T-Mobile has confirmed that it was also among the companies that were targeted by Chinese threat actors to gain access to valuable information. The adversaries, tracked as Salt Typhoon, breached the company as part of a "monthslong campaign" designed to harvest cellphone communications of "high-value intelligence targets." It's not clear what information was taken, if any, during the malicious activity. "T-Mobile is closely monitoring this industry-wide attack, and at this time, T-Mobile systems and data have not been impacted in any significant way, and we have no evidence of impacts to customer information," a spokesperson for the company was quoted as saying to The Wall Street Journal. "We will continue to monitor this closely, working with industry peers and the relevant authorities."
The FBI and CISA noted that the cyber-attacks the telecoms providers resulted in the "theft of customer call records data, the compromise of private communications of a limited number of individuals who are primarily involved in government or political activity, and the copying of certain information that was subject to US law enforcement requests pursuant to court orders." I just want an unmediated experience. What is the point of life if you spend all our time asking people what you should do or telling people what they should do. Why would you spend more than a second in an arena built and paid for by corrupt business people in collusion with the government.
I accept no push media at all. I block all instant or unasked for exposure to western media. It can take years to completely detach oneself from the artificial narratives embedded in all aspects of American life. Surely to be living in a culture designed to destroy all unmediated experiences in reality is not a good thing but this society also destroys any cultural replacement . Enlightened people mainly live un-tethered lives in the ether which seems alien to the whole human experience. #Narrative #Media

Although it is (perhaps unsurprisingly) not featuring on the Guardian/Observer webpages, Observer journalists are about to go on strike in protest against the proposed sale of the newspaper to Tortoise media....

Given the often semi duplication between the titles, I for one would like to see the Observer independent from the Guardian, and as such a sale to Tortoise media might be an interesting route to achieve that... however the journalists clearly do not agree!
