"Israel's finance minister said Sunday that U.S. President Donald Trump's plan to ethnically cleanse Gaza is proceeding, remarks that came on the same day as Israel completely cut off electricity from the last receiving facility in the obliterated Palestinian enclave.

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich of the far-right Religious Zionism party told fellow Knesset lawmakers that "this plan is taking shape, with ongoing actions in coordination" with the Trump administration.

Smotrich said that he is working with Cabinet members including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz to establish a "migration administration" that will oversee the removal of an indeterminate number of Gaza's approximately 2.1 million people, most of whom are descendants of Palestinians who fled or were ethnically cleansed from what is now Israel during the modern Jewish state's founding in 1948."

Folks, just because two fascist governments don't call removing a population based on ethnicity so you can build luxury condos on the ashes of their homes, "ethnic cleansing," does not in fact mean it isn't ethnic cleansing. In fact, if I'm being honest the term ethnic cleansing itself is a bullshit cop-out; the fact is forcingly removing a population based on ethnicity is in fact part of a process legally recognized as genocide; which is pretty on brand for an Israeli government credibly accused of genocide by international courts and a US government that's been actively arming, funding, and enabling the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza across multiple presidencies now, particularly the last two. Furthermore, while Smotrich claims the removals will be "voluntary" there is very little reason for anyone but the most credulous rubes to believe him. First of all, Israel has already engaged in an ongoing attempt to commit genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, and they just cut off electrical power to an area that is essentially always in a state of humanitarian crisis even though they know that action will kill innocent Palestinians. Additionally, there is no reason to believe Palestinians who have fought to keep their homes in Gaza intend to leave "voluntarily" and every single country the US and Israel have said would be happy to accept "voluntary" Palestinian "refugees' is stridently opposed to the plan because they recognize it as ethnic cleansing. Finally, this very same fascist government in Israel has repeatedly and publicly made no bones about their intentions to remove every Palestinian from Gaza, by lethal force or otherwise.

Friends, say what you will about Russian ministers bragging that Trump owes them one for political points, but Israel is not a geopolitical rival of the United States; they're allied with the US government and we send them billions of dollars worth of military and financial aid. Smotrich has no reason to lie about Trump's intentions and cooperation; in fact, he clearly couldn't be happier to have an American president working to accomplish the Netanyahu regime's odious intentions. Just don't expect a pro-genocide American media and political establishment to explain all this to you; they would after all much rather debate whether or not Trump is "serious" about getting rid of all the Palestinians and turning Gaza into a luxury resort complex for all his rich friends, until it's already a genocidal reality.

"It has been clear for some time that the US needed a new and much more restrained formula for foreign policy. Bernie Sanders, in the idiom of the old US left, called for an end to American imperialism. Barack Obama advocated restraint, although Hillary Clinton, his secretary of state, favoured a more expansive line.

Joe Biden oversaw a profoundly untimely revival of American claims to global leadership. The result was an administration that committed the US to the defence of Ukraine, backed Israeli escalation in the Middle East and engaged in brinkmanship with China. This satisfied the Washington “blob”, revived the spirits of Atlanticists and fed complacency in Europe. But despite the Biden administration’s claim to be pursuing a foreign policy for the US middle class, popular support for its approach was fragile.

Of course, Trump is a vandal. But in tearing down the status quo he does no more than confirm the obvious — that the elite coalition that favoured US global leadership has lost its political grip. If Europe wants something it likes to call a “rules-based order”, it will have to make it for itself."

"Even if the United States rescinds its tariffs and ends its trade war, it has already shown it’s a rogue state that cannot be trusted. It’s lashing out at its allies, reneging on its obligations to international institutions like the World Health Organization, not to mention the Ukrainian people, and there’s no guarantee that will change in four or eight years. The United States has spent the past century meddling in countries around the world, overthrowing their governments, financing forces that served its own interests, and enforcing punitive measures like it has on Cuba for sixty years.

That should have never been acceptable. But now, as it starts throwing its closest friends under the bus, it’s long past time to embrace — and even hasten — the end of American hegemony and the horrors it’s brought on the world. If countries that have long claimed to believe in an international rules-based order truly believe in human rights and international law, it’s time for them to break with the United States, reject their ongoing subordination to its tech dominance, find new friends and allies, and build a better tech infrastructure that enables a better world for everyone."

Chinese EV makers can build on Toyota and Nissan’s supply chain in Thailand. Chinese electronics companies can build on Samsung’s manufacturing base in Vietnam.

And, like Japan before it, China is using these economic linkages to support its own national interests while framing them as mutually beneficial partnerships. China is not the only country that loves using the phrase “win-win” when describing international partnerships. Shinzo Abe used it frequently when talking about Japan’s relationship with the US, EU, Russia, Asia, and of course China. For decades, Japan claimed credit for using aid and investment to help its Asian neighbors develop economically while turning the region into Japan’s manufacturing backyard. Throughout this whole process, Japan was careful to maintain control over core technology and prevent technology “leakage” to other countries. Now China is doing many of the same things with a similar framing.

But there is one important difference. China appears willing to leverage its control over technology, machinery, and critical inputs to actively undermine the industrial development of other countries—India being the prime example. "Such passivity makes sense once you understand a simple point: Britain is not a sovereign country. As the American Empire shifts from subtle to overt dominance, our genuflection is becoming similarly conspicuous. "Trump is instinctively committed to the idea that the world is a jungle in which the big players take what they want. As such, it would be wrong to trivialise his repeated designs on Greenland, the Panama Canal, the Gaza Strip and even Canada. He divides the world into spheres of interest. There is a consistency to Trump’s sympathy with Putin’s claims on Russia’s backyard. There is also a symmetry in Trump’s reassertion of the Monroe Doctrine in which the US has domain over the western hemisphere.

But that is wishful thinking. Any such manoeuvre would make sense only in concert with America’s allies. "Four years ago, the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) — the central bankers’ central bank — unveiled an innovation project that carried the ugly moniker “mBridge”.

This aimed to create a cross-border central bank digital currency linking the central banks of China, Hong Kong, Thailand, UAE and (latterly) Saudi Arabia.

You might think this is arcane. If so, think again: the geeky project symbolises a bigger battle that could matter deeply under US President Donald Trump.

More specifically, last autumn, just before the US election, the BIS unexpectedly pulled out of mBridge, in effect ceding control to China and the rest. BIS claimed this was just because it had reached “minimal viable product” stage. But few believe this. “The Americans demanded [the BIS] stop because it’s a threat,” one participant tells me, explaining that Washington worried that “it might be used to evade [dollar] sanctions”.

And while Agustín Carstens, BIS head, publicly denied that, speculation bubbles on — not least because Trump is undeniably on the monetary warpath: on Truth Social last month he repeated threats to impose “100% Tariffs” on countries trying to “replace the mighty U.S. Dollar” with new currencies or payments systems."

The United Nations was established to ensure world peace and suppress acts of aggression. It has failed us for eighty years.
The reason for that failure is the attempt of the framers of the UN Charter to protect the Imperialist ambitions of five founding nations through the Unanimous Consent clauses of the charter. There is an exception to the Unanimous Consent rule which is intended to protect against abuse of Unanimous Consent. A permanent member which is party to a dispute must abstain from voting.
It is time to enforce Article 27 Section 3 and it is time to take the steps necessary to amend the UN Charter to eliminate the Unanimous Consent clauses.

Yet Chinese leaders remain confident that, even if the country’s economy suffers, four years of Trump is unlikely to send it into a full-blown crisis. And they anticipate that if Trump follows through on his declared policies, such as those on trade and territorial expansion, he could do severe damage to the United States’ credibility and global leadership. Beijing thus sees Trump’s second term as a potential opportunity for China to expand its influence farther and faster. In this view, competition with the United States is not in itself the driving force behind China’s grand strategy. It is instead one component of a larger process: China’s rise and displacement of the United States as the world’s leading superpower, what Xi often describes as “changes unseen in a century.” Beijing assumes that Washington’s own policies will dismantle the foundations of U.S. global hegemony, even if it creates a lot of turbulence for other countries in the process. China’s top priority, then, is simply to weather the storm."
