"Speakers generally did not identify themselves as part of a particular political organization, but they included State Sen. Jeremy Moss, D-Southfield, who spoke of protecting #LGBTQ rights, and Abdul El-Sayed, director of the Wayne County Department of Health, Human and Veterans Services, who said he was acting in a personal capacity.
"'(It's) about damn time that we showed up, stood up and took our goverment back,' said El-Sayed, who railed against Trump's actions to freeze federal money for things such as #HealthCenters, #MentalHealthServices and the #WIC program, or Special Supplmental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children.
"Another speaker urged protestors to 'flood the phone lines' of elected officials to register their concerns.
"'A lot of us are here because we understand the danger we are facing, and we know that today is the time to act,' she said. 'We will not sit on the sidelines and watch as our rights are ripped way and the billionnaires dismantle our democracy, stripping it for parts.'"

In bitter cold, hundreds of people had gathered at the Capitol's eastern entrance by noon, and protestors continued to stream in., Lansing State Journal (Lansing State Journal)
In this case, Mr. Carson was arrested for stealing money from his neighbor's safe with a co-conspirator. A few months later, law enforcement applied for a search warrant for Mr. Carson's cell phone. The search warrant enumerated the claims that formed the basis for Mr. Carson's arrest, but the only mention of a cell phone was a law enforcement officer's general assertion that phones are communication devices often used in the commission of crimes. A warrant was issued which allowed the search of the entirety of Mr. Carson's smart phone, with no temporal or category limits on the data to be searched. Evidence found on the phone was then used to convict Mr. Carson.
On appeal, the Court of Appeals made a number of rulings in favor of Mr. Carson, including that evidence from the phone should not have been admitted because the search warrant lacked particularity and was unconstitutional. The government's appeal to the Michigan Supreme Court was accepted and we filed an amicus brief."

“I have this eerie feeling that I need to get the hell up out of there,” says Muldrow, a 20-year-old Black woman from Florida. She was in Michigan as a door knocker, hired by a subcontractor for Elon Musk’s America PAC operation to turn out the vote for Donald Trump in the heavily contested working-class suburbs of Detroit.
Muldrow and the rest of her canvassing group of roughly a dozen people had just been fired en masse, after WIRED reported that they had been tricked and threatened as part of Musk’s get-out-the-vote effort. Speaking publicly for the first time about her ordeal, Muldrow says that the canvassers in her group were fired with little explanation beyond a complaint that someone had spoken with the press. Many, including her, were still owed money. Muldrow had to find her own way home; others are still stranded in Michigan."
