Photography. A color photo of two foxes at night against an urban backdrop. Two foxes, one small and one large, can be seen from behind as they trot side by side towards a residential area. The smaller fox is looking at the larger one. The photo was taken from a hiding place close to the ground. Streetlights with round lamps, houses and street trees can be seen out of focus. The photo has a warm brown coloration and a wonderful aura, as you become a companion of the photographer who is secretly observing the two. Info: The photographer: "This fox family has had a den under an abandoned building in downtown Whitehorse for several years.... They are very curious about people, which sometimes makes it difficult to photograph them. A couple years ago I had a GoPro set up in front of their burrow, and one of the little guys stole it before I could react. If they ever tear this old building down, I'd be so curious to see what they've collected over the years..."

I keep walking to that same spot at the edge of the field, knowing exactly where to stand in those few meters and waiting at the last moment to turn my head to the right, knowing exactly what I will see. And yet the view is amazing every time. I have dozens of roughly similar photos of this wave of trees but which are also unique depending on the seasons, the light and the activities in the field. I love to travel and see new landscapes but I also agree with Rachel Carson: there is something extremely reassuring and calming about repetition and consistency, not only in nature, but in photography and life.

Ce jour-là eût lieu un curieux phénomène . En effet l’étoile polaire, brillant beaucoup plus fort qu’à l’ordinaire, apparût à l’est et s’éleva lentement dans le ciel. Quand elle comprit qu’elle avait été dupée par une lune d’humeur farceuse, la Pointe de l’Échelle en rougit de honte.

Altbau, Wohnhaus. Zwei Fenster im Hochparterre. Das Haus wäre eigentlich schön, Verzierungen über und zwischen den Fenstern. Bögen als Oberkante. Leider sehr abgelebt das alles. Eine Frau, dunkel gekleidet, geht telefonierend vorbei.

das bild im format 2:3 zeigt eine in bewegung geschossene strand- und meeresszene. die szenerie ist horizontal geschichtet. ganz oben ist eine wolkenschicht. darunter ist freier himmel. dann kommt der horizont. darunter in der ferne das weite meer. zum vordergrund hin sieht flache wellen erkennbar. unterhalb der bildhälfte ist der brandungsschaum zu sehen. darunter ist schon nasser sand. und ganz unten als letzter streifen ist nur etwas dunkler und glatter strand zu sehen. bei der aufnahme wurde die kamera horizontal bewegt, sodass das bild verschwommen ist und eine horizontale bewegungsunschärfe als stilmittel die wahrnehmung der schichten verstärkt. zusätzlich wird eine abstrakte komponente eingebracht.

Ein mit Absicht verwackeltes Foto (ICM) von einem Weg durch einen Wald. Die braunen Stämme werden zum Teil von der Sonne beleuchtet, spärliches Grün leuchtet ab und zu durch, ein wenig Blau vom Himmel ist am oberen Bildrand zu erkennen. Durch die Bewegung scheinen sich die Bäume um sich herum zu drehen. A deliberately blurred photo (ICM) of a path through a forest. The brown trunks are partially illuminated by the sun, sparse green shines through from time to time, a little blue from the sky can be seen at the top of the picture. Due to the movement, the trees appear to be turning around themselves.

This is Village Bay on Hirta, the principal island of St Kilda. The hillside is littered with cleits, stone storage shelters unique to St Kilda.

Our very first visit to Norway found us in Bergen on a day that started off rainy but did brighten up as the day wore on. We had no plans during our 2013 visit other than to walk around and see what caught our eyes, and ended up buying jewellery, some more typical souvenirs, and having a beer outside somewhere. Not great beer, but nice to try the local stuff anyway.

An overcast day with drizzly rain and the people we can see are mostly wearing raincoats with some holding umbrellas. We're in a city and standing next to a dock that stretches through it. Buildings are set well back from us on the right and across the flat, grey water on the left more buildings on the other side of the harbour area can be seen. Tied up alongside in front of us is a modern sailing boat created in the style of a Viking longboat with very high, curved prow and aft and a single mast in the centre. The boat is warmly-coloured wood with a little green, red, and yellow accent colouring on its hull. It feels cold and damp.
