This is probably a bit obscure - but I had a cool glimpse of an interesting behaviour turn-up on one of the trail-cameras yesterday.

It happens so fast that it’s hard to be sure what the animal is, but I believe it’s an eastern pygmy possum, carrying nesting material in its prehensile tail.

Oh, what I would do to be able to capture this in the camera-trap.

While on a bird tour this weekend, a lone killdeer kept pacing back and forth in front of a couple of the vehicles. Eventually, it realized it could get closer.

A small killdeer stands protectively over three small eggs. The large plover, with its white belly and brown back and distinctive white and black neck rings, watches the audience with its red ringed eye. The three small eggs blend into the gravel covered ground, the darkly speckled grey shell nearly invisible.

Another clue that the California towhees are not tree birds… this one was so unstable looking. Not helped by choosing a bud rather than a branch for one foot, and different branches for each foot too.

I was down in Florida for a few days to escape the cold weather. There were so many burrowing owls there, but it's really difficult to get a clean shot due to buildings, cars, fences, etc... I do like the way this one turned out though.

Meine liebsten Lebensformen und Lebensunformen,
gestern hab ich keine Fotos gemacht, hab einfach Wind, Sonne und mehr genossen. Heute wollte ich eigentlich Fotos vom Wiedehopf machen, es hat sich aber keiner gezeigt, so bin ich dann nochmal zu den Kuhreihern. Und da hat es mir besonders dieser Teenager angetan.
Er ist immer auf den Bürgersteig, wenn keiner gekommen ist und hat ein wenig dusselig geschaut und ist dann immer wieder schnell zurück auf die Wiese.

Tiere sind Freunde und kein Essen oder eine Plage.
Bleibt gesund, glücklich und verliebt.

Der schlimmste Seelenschmerz ist das Fernweh.

My favourite life forms and life non-forms,
I didn't take any photos yesterday, just enjoyed the wind, sun and more. Today I actually wanted to take photos of the hoopoe, but none showed up, so I went back to the cattle egrets. And I was particularly taken with this teenager.
He always came out onto the pavement when no one was around, looked a bit silly and then quickly returned to the meadow.

Animals are friends, not food or a nuisance.
Stay healthy, happy and in love.

The most terrible pain in the soul is wanderlust.

I see this group of deer quite often during my runs, but rarely when I have my camera with me. They tolerate humans from a distance; however, if I stopped for too long, they’d just run away.

es waren wunderbare Abende bei den jungen Steinkauzen.
Es gab verschiedene Pfosten auf denen die jungen Steinkauze sitzen und auf Beute lauern konnten.
Ich hoffe ja, dass sie heuer auch wieder brüten.
