One of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco at the moment is Yemeni Kabab & Mediterranean near Market & Taylor.

The traditional haneeth, kabsa and mandi plates are excellent. The mezzes are fantastic. They have very affordable lunch plates too, and I love the tea they offer. One of those small homey places with seriously good food and vibes.

It’s much better than restaurants in that category that cost 2x more.

BEHOLD the MAJESTY of the Kiwi Cheese scone. Marvel at its buttery ramparts. Quail at its mountainous size. This scone is large enough to hold an entire Dwarfish civilization and three Balrogs playing bingo. This scone has heft. This scone is magnificent. This scone is delicious.

Okay, for starters this image isn't quite doing justice to how large this scone is. It was almost the size of my face. Put your hand to your face, imagining your hand is not a mighty paw but a reasonably sized smallish hand. This scone is the size of that hand. It looks like a magnificent buttery yellow rocky outcrop. Or a mountain. A misty mountain if you will. And ye, indeed within this scone could be the Mines of Moria. I'm not saying they're actually in there. But this scone is big enough that they could be. And there is a shadow cast by this scone onto the white plate on which it rests. It's an ominous shadow. It's the kind of shadow that a balrog would lurk in. In the darkness. Next to the ominous shadowy scone is a butter knife holding two triangles of butter that in reality seemed big enough to baste a spit roasted warg. Would spit roasted warg taste nice? No! But there's enough butter to go around if you're inclined that way. All this is sitting on a green table that looks like it's getting quite a bit of sun. You care not for this table. You care for the scone. Do you dare imagine eating it? No! This scone is not for eating. It's for admiring... okay, and eating. But you will feel very full afterwards, and maybe wish you'd not said you'd have one yourself. Maybe you should have shared this scone like your partner suggested. Maybe you were too much of a piggy wiggy and now you're full of cheese and butter. That is all.
