Tautropfen und die aufgehende Morgensonne lassen die Krokusse in einem ganz besonderen Glanz erstrahlen. Und die Bokeh-Perlen gibts halt auch nur, wenn die Tautropfen von der Nacht noch auf den Grashalmen liegen.

Es ist eine Makroaufnahme und darum ist die Schärfeebene klein. Vom Regen vergangene Nacht hat es Regen / Tautropfen auf den Grashalmen und die glitzern im frühen Morgenlicht. Die glitzernden Wassertropfen geben wunderbare Bokehperlen ab.

What it may have looked like some long forgotten autumn evening 800 years ago.

A color night time photo of a cliff dwelling ruin. The ruin is on the right side of the frame. The ruin is made of natural sandstone rocks shaped into a brick form. There are five openings in the face of the ruin that is tucked up under a cliff overhang. An orange glow is seen in each of the five openings creating the effect that the ruin is occupied. The cliff face is visible from the stray light coming out of the openings. At the far end of the cliff is a large thirty foot tall balanced rock that looks a lot like the profile of a face looking to the left. The lower part of the frame from center-left to the left side in black. The upper part of the frame from the lower center to the left and top is the star filled night sky.

Die Ostsee bei Flensburg liegt glatt unter dem Licht des Sonnenuntergangs. Eine kleine Sandbank liegt nur wenige Zentimeter über dem blauen Wasser und leuchtet rotgolden im Licht der Dämmerung. Einige leere Krabbenschalen und Muscheln liegen auf der Sandbank. . The Baltic Sea near Flensburg lies smooth under the light of the sunset. A small sandbank sits just a few centimetres above the blue water and glows red-golden in the dusk light. A few empty crab shells and seashells lie on the sandbank. .

Ever since big tech bent their knees to America's regime, I've started to move away from proprietary software and hardware, which includes switching from macOS+Capture One to Linux+#darktable.

There were several times when I was like "f*ck it, what am I doing here?!" while trying to get around some of darktable's, ah, shall we say, idiosyncrasies.

But I keep on biting my way through, and I have to admit, I'm more proud of the results than I would have been in my old #photography workflow.

It's fun to make long exposures of Ferris wheels. The light patterns you see are endless! Electric snowflakes, they are!

History tidbit: George Washington Gale Ferris Jr., (February 14, 1859 – November 22, 1896), inventor for the Ferris wheel, lived in Carson City, Nevada, for a short period of time. The Sears–Ferris House is at 311 W Third Street in Carson City. And in Reno, there is a street named after Ferris.

A long exposure of a spinning Ferris wheel. Leaving the camera shutter open causes the lights to make all kinds of interesting patterns. This one has spokes radiating out from the center of green, light blue, and dark blue. There's a wide black line near the out edge where the lights were off.

I found that all existing software either cost a silly amount of money, required a subscription, and/or was cloud based.

So I decided to write an #opensource App running on the local machine, free for everyone to use. Here it is.
