Tautropfen und die aufgehende Morgensonne lassen die Krokusse in einem ganz besonderen Glanz erstrahlen. Und die Bokeh-Perlen gibts halt auch nur, wenn die Tautropfen von der Nacht noch auf den Grashalmen liegen.

Man sieht zwei Krokusse auf einer Wiese. Sie stehen direkt in der Bildmitte; einer etwas im Vordergrund und im Fokus. der zweite steht leicht im Hintergrund und ist etwas verschwommen. Es ist eine Makroaufnahme und darum ist die Schärfeebene klein. Vom Regen vergangene Nacht hat es Regen / Tautropfen auf den Grashalmen und die glitzern im frühen Morgenlicht. Die glitzernden Wassertropfen geben wunderbare Bokehperlen ab.

At first I thought this was some sort of fossil - it felt like part of the rock. Turns out it's a chiton, a marine mollusc. This one is a giant chiton, Plaxiphora albida.

Chitons use biomineralisation to coat their teeth in iron (technically magnetite) so they can chew away on coral and algae growing on rocks.

Dew Lantern

Photographing in the morning hours is a bliss. The weather forecast said it would be overcast, but I went outside anyway. When the sun came out, every blade of grass had a single dewdrop with a tiny sun in it, shimmering in the ground fog. Worth the lost hours of sleep.

You can probably imagine my disappointment when I opened up these images and saw I had missed focus by fractions of a milimeter.

The woodlice have been eating my strawberries, but I tried to make the most of it by getting some strong red backgrounds and interesting scenes from it. I nearly managed, but just marginally missed as the little guys were moving around so fast.

Oh well, maybe next year

Extreme closeup of a green moss (possibly a joint-toothed moss) along with it's stalk-like reproductive organs. The moss leaves, called a gametophytes, are bushy with over-lapping leaves. Throughout the photo there are sporophytes, one in sharp focus near center top frame. In this species, the sporophytes consist of long stalks that curve at the top with a spore-containing capsule dangling down from each.

L'abella solitària Megachile sculpturalis és una espècie al·lòctona present a Catalunya des del 2018 i des de fa més d'una dècada a diversos països europeus. Coneguda en anglès com abella gegant de la resina (Giant resin bee), ja que pot mesurar fins uns 24 mm., és un megaquílid molt més gran que altres membres de la família. A la imatge es pot veure una femella entrant al seu niu aprofitant els forats de la paret.
