Es gibt zwar #SBCs mit offenerer Hardware, aber der #RaspberryPi ist überall erhältlich, gut dokumentiert, leistungsfähig und preiswert. Und es gibt ihn mit bis zu 16 GB RAM.
Wer einen Server am Internet betreibt, muss zügig #Sicherheitsupdates einspielen. Viele vergessen aber, laufende Software neuzustarten, damit die neue Version läuft statt der alten. Dabei hilft auf debianbasierten Linux-Systemen das Tool #needrestart, das leider meist nicht vorinstalliert ist.
Auf meinem Raspberry Pi 4 läuft
needrestart schon immer korrekt (automatisch nach apt upgrade). Auf meinem Raspberry Pi 5 musste ich aber erst eine Konfigurationsdatei anlegen, wie es der Hauptentwickler hier beschreibt:https://github.com/liske/needrestart/blob/master/README.raspberry.md
Bis dahin behauptete das Tool immer, dass ein reboot nötig sei, weil ein veralteter Linux-Kernel laufe.
Als nächstes will ich auf beiden Raspis die Festplattenverschlüsselung aktivieren. Das ist unter #Raspbian bzw. #RaspberryPiOS leider nicht so einfach wie auf anderen Debian-Systemen. Wenn ihr das geschafft habt: Schreibt gern eure Tipps!

Jedenfalls hatte ich mich vor gut 2 Wochen schon nach einer Nextcloud-Alternative umgeschaut und diese auch gefunden: OpenCloud!
Eine schnelle, schlanke Cloud, die sich ebenfalls gut selbst hosten lässt. In OpenCloud integriert ist auch Collabora Online, draw.io, Tika und ClamAV, außerdem ist die OpenCloud Open Source.

I'm putting the finishing touches to a blog post about #PeerTube - from the POV of creators. I look forward to publishing it soon so I can devote the rest of the day to fixing my self-hosted Ghost blog issues.
Yes yes yes I know I keep going back-and-forth on this, so I apologize for the "flip-flopping" but I recently got an amazing shout out on a Fediverse podcast... but that shout-out mentioned my self-hosting woes so as I matter of pride I wanna fix them with code. I'm not done yet! I'm a fighter by nature.
I rebuilt my entire Ghost blog (33 posts and counting) from scratch TWO TIMES this year. After stepping away from the problem for 5 days, I'm ready to dive back in.
Disabling the Mastodon preview cards (for links) would fix all my problems but first I wanna see what happens when I tweak my NGINX config file.
I'm in the self-hosting game for the LONG HAUL! Undeterred, ready to learn. Let's do this.

Der entscheidende Unterschied für eine Bewertung ist, dass im Fediverse/bei Mastodon alle frei sind, die Instanz zu wechseln, Accounts bei mehreren zu führen und vor allem, eine eigene zu betreiben.
Das ist mit Yunohost oder Wordpress ganz einfach; ich probiere beide zur Zeit aus.

However, getting rid of the #Meta services feels more difficult. Non the less, I made that cut now, as well, and am quite proud of myself for it.
On the way, I found a service that is not part of the #fediverse but as a #opensource product with #selfhosting capability at least in the close vincinity;
@linkstack is a replacement for the proprietary and profit-oriented LinkTree. You can run a #selfhosted instance of it, or choose from one of the nearly 20 different public instances listed at their website. I'm loving it, so far - and especially now, while switching away from all my proprietary social networks it is a great help to poiting people with one single link, to where they can find you in future.
Plus - as many other (proprietary) services do not yet support links to mastodon, pixelfed, and others ( #LinkStack btw *does*!), but all of them usually have a homepage field, this is the one URL that will help you out in these instances.

Office-Dokumente kannst du mit dem optionalen @CollaboraOffice gemeinsam bearbeiten. Nextcloud kannst du selbst betreiben. Einfacher ist es, für ein paar Euro einen europäischen Nextcloud-Hoster zu wählen - idealerweise inkl. Collabora.
