Three Mallard duckling spaced across the frame, seen through the vegetation at the edge of a pool, the leftmost one has a raised head, whilst centre and right have their heads in the normal position. Eine Inkaseeschwalbe (Larosterna inca) steht direkt vor dem Betrachter und wendet ihm den Kopf zu. Der Schnabel ist leicht geöffnet. Die Inkaseeschwalbe ist an ihrem schiefergrauen Federkleid, den nach außen gebogenen weißen 5 cm langen Federbüscheln am Schnabelgrund, dem weißen Federrand an den Flügeln sowie am knallroten Schnabel mit gelben Mundwinkeln und den knallroten Füßen zu erkennen. Sie ist 39–42 cm lang und etwa 190 g schwer.
Wie zuvor, aber man sieht die rechte Seite des Kopfes.

a colorful bird which is about chicken sized, but with long yellow "good for swamps" legs, wide feet, and a candy-corn looking orange and yellow beak. Purple / teal / blue on the breast. never seen one, and it was less than an hour away!
this was the first image I snapped of our rare friend (and very rare in Maryland!) I ended up taking thousands of images, but I haven't gone through them yet! profile view of his orange and yellow-tipped beak, poking out from some reeds in his comfortable happy place (a swampy environment) however he's a bit off on lattitude.

Ein Australischer Zebrafink (Taeniopygia castanotis) sitzt frontal vor dem Betrachter auf einem Ast. In seinem Schnabel hält er eine große weiße Feder an ihrem Kiel. Der wild lebende Zebrafink wird bis zu elf Zentimeter lang und rund 10 Gramm schwer. Das Männchen hat ein schmales schwarzes Brustband, einen rotbraunen Wangenfleck, rotbraune Flanken mit runden oder ovalen weißen Punkten und einen besonders intensiv roten Schnabel. Die Kehle zeigt die typische Zebrazeichnung bis unter den Schnabel. Die Schwanzfedern sind schwarz und werden durch die schwarz-weiß gebänderten Oberschwanzdecken größtenteils überdeckt.

A small killdeer stands protectively over three small eggs. The large plover, with its white belly and brown back and distinctive white and black neck rings, watches the audience with its red ringed eye. The three small eggs blend into the gravel covered ground, the darkly speckled grey shell nearly invisible.

Ein Birkenstamm, an dem in der Sonne von Betrachtungsperspektive aus links ein Grünspecht klammert. Der Specht hat grünes Vogelfell (a.k.a. Gefieder), einen hellen Bauch und Gesicht, eine schwarze Gesichtsmaske, einen roten Hut (sieht aus wie 'ne Kappe oder ein Iro) und er ist unten so gepunktet rennflaggenmäßig an seinen Stützschwanzfedern an der Seite. Er sieht aus, als ob er gleich kloppbereit ist. Sonst sieht man Birkenzweiglein und im Hintergrund andere Birken. Ich mag Birken ja urst. Spechte aber auch.

Eine Kohlmeise (Parus major) im Geäst eines kahlen Obstbaums. Sie sitzt dem Beobachter frontal gegenüber, wird aber durch Zweige vor ihr teilweise verdeckt. Der Vogel hat einen kurzen schwarzen Schnabel. Die Federn am Kopf sind schwarz und an den Wangen und Ohrdecken weiß. Der Rücken erscheint grünlich, Brust und Bauch gelb. Der untere Rücken, die Flügeldecken und der Schwanz sind blaugrau. In der Mitte der Unterseite des Rumpfes befindet sich ein schwarzer Längsstrich.

A male Greenfinch seemingly hanging in flight, heading from right to left of frame. Ein Graureiher (Ardea cinerea) seitlich im Flug aufgenommen. Die Flügel sind halb nach oben gestreckt und werfen einen Schatten auf einen großen Teil des Rumpfes. Der Kopf ist an den Körper zurückgezogen; die Beine sind gerade nach hinten gestreckt. Das Gefieder des Graureihers ist auf Stirn und Oberkopf weiß, am Hals grauweiß und auf dem Rücken aschgrau mit weißen Bändern. Er hat schwarze Augenstreifen sowie drei lange schwarze Schopffedern, die einen Federbusch bilden, eine dreifache schwarze Fleckenreihe am Vorderhals sowie schwarze Schwingen. Der lange Schnabel ist gelblich und geht auf dem Schnabelfirst ins Bräunliche über. Die Wachshaut ist gelb und wird Richtung Auge grünlich. Die drei langen Vorderzehen sind am Stelzenbein weit auseinander gespreizt und verhindern das Einsinken in den weichen Untergrund.

This season has been tough for shooting waterfowl. Since November I have been plagued by boaters, kayakers, police, droughts, ice and mud like quicksand but didn’t give up. LOL. I got this shot of a Female Common Merganser on Tuesday and I really like it. I hope you do too!

I was down in Florida for a few days to escape the cold weather. There were so many burrowing owls there, but it's really difficult to get a clean shot due to buildings, cars, fences, etc... I do like the way this one turned out though.

Eine Wacholderdrossel (Turdus pilaris) steht auf dem Ast eines Obstbaums und wendet dem Betrachter das Profil zu. Der obere Rücken, die Schulterfedern und die Oberflügeldecken sind rötlich braun; Kopf, hinterer und seitlicher Hals sowie hinterer und unterer Rücken sind hellgrau. Der Kopf zeigt einen deutlichen weißlichen Überaugenstreif. Kehle, Vorderhals und obere Brust sind auf ockergelbem Grund schwärzlich gestrichelt, die Flanken zeigen auf meist etwas blasser rötlich beigem Grund dunkle, pfeilspitzenähnliche Flecken. Die übrige Unterseite des Rumpfes, die Unterschwanzdecken sowie die Unterflügeldecken sind weiß. Die Schwingen sind dunkel graubraun und schmal hell gerandet. Der Schwanz ist schwarzgrau.
